Hmm, well I have to admit I do think about death, and I think about it just about every day. But there's reasons for that which I won't go into. Just ... stuff.

Morningstar and Inrun, you are both inspirations! I have lost people very close to me. In some ways I do feel that they are still "with" me.

Reincarnation I do believe in. Either as a way to make up for things done wrong in a past life or because you need to learn something new. And this continues until you learn everything you're supposed to/make amends for any wrongdoings. After that? I don't know ... oblivion/void sounds good.

Ghosts - definitely. I live with one and have since I was 7 years old. For example, he opens doors, and I mean locks unlock, doorknobs turn and doors open. I've had the covers pulled off of me while in bed - awake. And I'm not the only one to experience things, so have my roommates. Without me saying anything to them.

The whole heaven/hell theory. Well, I was raised very strict Irish Catholic. But for me after many questions/discussions/arguments/soul searching, I just can't accept that. I don't want to get into religion or beliefs here. Let's just say I left that path and after much searching found one much better suited to me that is gentler, more forgiving and loving and far less patriarchial brimstone/punishment based.

Because He doesn't want to force us in to believing what we don't. He wants us to choose and want to follow.

I'm with Amethyst's response, but I think we've wandered into "Let's take this to the Debate board" territory.

More to the main question, even if death isn't simply the end, it is the end of "life as we know it." So live life as your beliefs tell you it should be, and then later either you'll get your answer, or (more likely imho) you won't get an answer . . . but you won't know that, because there isn't any "you" to get the answer anymore.

I won't get into religious aspects so hopefully this thread won't get locked because of me, but that's what I believe.

I don't think about death too much, though. It occasionally crosses my mind, but I'm not really afraid of it--perhaps because I don't feel threatened by it right now. I'm sure that could change easily...

The idea of reincarnation isn't a happy one for me... I feel as though I am lucky to have been born who I am, but the idea of having to do it all over again, and perhaps not being so lucky the next time isn't one that I relish. In fact, the idea of dying and starting over, going through this world time after time is just an awful thought to me.

There is no death; there is the Force.

Exactly what I believe also. And, that there is some spirit "thing" out there--God, collective bodies of spirit, I don't know which--guiding us to be able to accomplish this. Some of us are in tune with it and some either are not or refuse to believe it. I could go on, but I won't.

But, like others have said. We won't really know until we get there. And, even when we get there, will "we" even have the capacity to know? Or even care? Perhaps, by then, it won't even matter to us anymore.

So, why worry about something that you cannot change.

erm, what was it like when your heart died?.. as it just like sleep? In the sense you just jump from one time to another. Or what? I want my heart to stop for a period of time! ;_;

No. No you don't want your heart to stop for a period of time. It has unpleasant ramifications. Part of my heart muscle is dead from that incident. Not a large portion, but enough to make a difference in it's function; and enough to shorten my lifespan.

When my heart stopped? I don't remember anything strange (well other then the fact that my heart stopped). I was running, and I felt strange, and then I collapsed. When I woke up I was in the hospital. There was no transission, no bright light. Nothing like that. Nothing like felt I had my soul being sucked away or freaky things in that frame of thought. It was just... blackness, and then pain once I woke up in the hospital. It was a difficult surgery and one i'm glad I don't have to repeat!

I think it is like waking up in the morning myself. Only you wake up another, hopefully better place.

Lol, I believe in sort of the opposite. I believe you just fall asleep forever...

I have no idea what I believe in sometimes though. My beliefs change (I'm one of the most indecisive people you could EVER meet).

i dunno if anyone else has said this because im just popping in because my computer is being unwise at the moment.. but i think reincarnation is real, how do you think we have Deja Vu? its a memory from our past lifes except instead of it being our old body its replaced with our current one becuase thats what the brain knows best because its been in you for the last however long and out of whatever you where for however long...

I hope not. I can barely go on in a world that i know i can affect.
somehow, the entire worlds view of the afterlife scares the hell out of me.
i cant stand to be locked up outisde my will, to be prevented from doing what you want.
even the traditional view of ehaven has its limitations, you still serve somone beyond your will.
ironicly, the only view of afterlife that i can find solace in is Hell (prior to Dante's view of it i mean)

Well anyways, when I have Deja Vu, I always get the feeling that it's from a dream that I've had. And anyways, the environment and everything would be too different if we had past lives. (i.e. Cell phones, clothes, etc.)

but a little bit of the memory is stored in the muscles and such so that triggers the memory...
