WHo cares about all those Califonia Beaches? The Jersey Shore is oh so much better! Much less people and some pretty good waves.
New Jersey also has the cheapest gas in the country.

And if he's near Philly he can go to Baltimore Harbor, which is pretty fun.

Oh! And he can come and see me in Pittsburgh! ;)

Downtown is overrated, aside from the inner harbor.

36th St. in Hamden is frickin AWESOME- the stores? Amazing. The people? Amazing. And it's like two blocks from my house! =D

And if you do come here, go to the Senator theatre, because it's totally and completely awesome.

But you missed Honfest. =(

And like you missed the Christmas decorations on 34th St. =O

But WE'RE STILL AWESOME.

Definitely. ...If you're talking about the actual Baltimore inner harbor and not some Baltimore harbor in some place that is not Baltimore. oO

Come to North Virginia, the coolest state in the U.S.! That's where I live... heavy snow in the summer, nice rainy sunny days in the winter! Plus because of the summer we are about to have the statewide Grapefruitfest... and not to mention the North Virginia State Fair!

I really hope this thread turns into a bad travelogue with each person describing, in 50 words or less, what makes their state the best and why!

I love it when that happens.

Go visit around Vietnam instead. Vietnam > US.
(;

I'm gonna do that whole "my state is the best, come visit!" thing and say (Southern) California. 'Cause we have Disneyland (which is horribly overpriced but still fun), Knott's Berry Farm (I'm in love with their cookies), and Six Flags slash Hurricane Harbor. It's sunny all year long and has a bajillion beaches all over the place. The shopping is awesometastic, and SoCal is just cool like that. 8)

Which is really strange, because IIRC Jersey is all full-service, all the time.

Ah yes, that paradox those of us who live near the PA/NJ border discovered a long time ago...too bad I live just far away enough from Jersey to make a trip over the bridge not really worth it. I think it would cost me just a little more to drive there than I would save because of the cheap gas. And back on topic...yeah, Philly has a lot of cool places to visit, and we're right in the middle of other big cities like NYC and DC, too.

Who needs Hurricane Harbor when you can have an actual hurricane? Party like it's September '05, yawl!!! And you can visit historic I-45, where more than 30 people died in a bus fire, and lots more trying to evacuate! Or, you can visit the hotel where Clara Harris ran over her philandering husband! also, about 15 minutes away, is the house where Andrea Yates killed her 5 kids. Not to mention all of the N'Arlins refugees live here. If you're into death and destruction, Houston is the place to be!

Or you could visit NASA. Mission Control, anyone?

Come to Cleveland, Ohio! It's 40 minutes away from where I live and they filmed bits of Spiderman 3 here! AND we've got tacky guitars all over downtown, like the pig thing in Chicago only uninspired!

.... :D

Yeah, well... Arlington Road was filmed in Houston. Some of it in my neighborhood.

When you were child in elementary school, did you ever have to write poems about what made your family special? And then you got to read them out in class. And you'd be really excited about reading it. Super excited, because you've written a poem about how special your family is! And you sit through 10 students and you're incredibly bored because you know that the really special poem is your poem and everyone could just save time by skipping all the boring kids and jumping straight to your poem. Then you read yours, and its AMAZING. Then you sit down at your desk and play with the pencil sharpener in your desk while the last 10 kids finish because they need to read theirs but clearly the teacher could just end it because you've read yours already and that's the only truly special one. And you don't understand why the other kids don't understand and why they're all excited about their poems because clearly yours is specialer than theirs.

Just a little deja vu moment, my bad.

PS We had three corn mazes in our town a few years ago and the Wayans brother filmed parts of White Chicks there and they mentioned in their interviews the irrational number of cougars that inhabit our nightclubs, so there!

Exactly! I can't imagine why people are wasting their time with so-called "cities" like New York and Chicago, when they should be focusing all their time and energy on Houston. Seriously, people. What the heck is wrong with you?
