And who rides trains anymore either? I haven't ever ridden a train in my life, and I don't plan to. Road trips are so much better.

Oh please. You've not noticed the severe issues going on in Japan relating to women? Don't kid yourself. I'm sure Japan is a wonderful place; that's why I would like to go. However, I'm not deluded. It is not the be all and the end all. You would likely be ostracized there because you're not Japanese, and you wouldn't know all of their customs.
