Taking a 1 week break is the ultimate cure. When I tried it, I lasted 3 days before I caved. :P

At first, I honestly didn't care about the change. True, I hadn't been active in a few weeks, but although change is something I've always hated, it tends to be easier to handle than you anticipate.

However, as time progressed, I noticed the fights, the Neoboard-reject posts, and a lot of other unpleasant things. However, you have to remember that some of these same things had been springing up on the old boards too.

I, as well as most people on this board, miss the old PPT. It just seemed like a frendlier place (well, at least until sporatic arguments started popping up everywhere). Now it seems as if there are constant battles between the different groups/cliqués of people. But these boards are still young, and the adjustment period continues.

Sure, some groups are gone, as are some members. But change happens, and although it's not fun, it's inevitable. Hopefully everyone will once again adjust to these (I know the old ones weren't the first; how did people adjust then?), and eventually most things should come back to bring back the old feeling of the board.

Sorry if this didn't make any sense, I wrote it over the span of an hour. I'm a terrible multitasker.

Everyone is having a lot of trouble getting used to PPT now, I think - the less than 2k members, perhaps the absence of old member's accounts (even if they didn't post) and just somethings we were used to...perhaps our post counts, all our usergroups (Unless they're back already...). It's really hard to get used to how PPT is now.

What I'm wondering is, in August, there were a LOT more members here, and when the Time Warp happened, about 3 or so mods restored nearly everyone's post count... Why can't it be done here?

I'm not completely sure, but I think they're afraid of people lying about it to get a lot of posts...or something...I think I read that on a thread somewhere.

Edit: Listen to Rune, not me. XD;

We don't have a definite grasp on everyone's post count from the previous database as we did with that time warp (most post counts had dropped by a couple hundred at the most between the time of that time warp and the date it was set back to.) This isn't the first time in PPT history that people have had to start clean in a "new" forum from what I have heard previously though (the forums had been very unstable for a time.)

Sock is also right, there is always the possibility that someone will fake their post count if it occured. I know some people are honest, but there are always a few who ruin it.

I don't understand why people are still concerned with their old post count. I know I was slightly annoyed by it at first, but it's been long enough now that I don't see why it matters anymore.

I'm beginning to agree, after the initial irritation of the count going down the toilet, Its beginning to feel like PPT again if you understand what I mean.

It still kind of sucks when you're so close to your goal and fooooosh... It goes...

...New goal! Get to godly (I DON'T CARE IT WILL ALWAYS BE THE RANK PPT GOD) before school starts! I've gotten to Beyond Godly before then, and that was more posts!

Yay, tiny new spark of hope. ^_^

Personally, I don't think people left because of changes to PPT. I think it a lot of people left because of what has happened to Neopets--the gitches. If they stop playing Neopets because of being wrongly frozen or because of a glitch, then most likely they will stop going to PPT. People left when the TP glitch hit last November. Others left when the mass-freezings occurred in December/January. More left after having their passwords given out in April. And, I know, personally, of several who quit around the Day of Action because of the roll back that happened a few weekends before.

People will come to this forum and people will leave this forum. I hang out in GC and not here too much. I miss the group that was there last summer--MrAdamFaceisHot, SirHatter, Breloom, Nothing, Mileena, Magenta, Hampie, and I know I am forgetting many names. However, many new people have come onto GC and are just as wonderful--people that I have gotten to know quite well. These are people who came to these forums because they thought it was the best site ever and they deserve a chance too. Just because they haven't been here forever doesn't mean that they don't have a lot to offer or should be excluded or feel inferior.

Life changes constantly--you go to a new school or job or move to a new city and don't know anyone there. You have to figure out who is there and connect with at least some of them--simple.

And, to heck with the lost post counts. Give it up already. They are gone--I had just become a PPT God before the site went down, but hey, in the greater scheme of things, it really doesn't matter, does it? I am just happy that PPT came back--and for that I would give up all prior post counts and all future post costs if I had to. I mean what really does it prove? Are you any better because you have more posts than someone else? Nah!

Firstly, PPT here is for enjoyment, not post counts, and thus you shouldnt be hung up over them. Anyhow people have already said that.

What I will say is that ever since I joined the forum members have always seemed to hunger for the past. People have whined on it for so long that I think its nothing more than a nevada, an illusion that never really existed in reality. Perhaps what people hunger for is those few days when they first joined and everything was new. Whatever the case people need to stop moaning and look at what they have. Which is a tight, supportive, community.

And thats all I have to say on that!

Thank you. You are very sweet. And, about my username: That is my real last name--honest to goodness. I love it because it is so unusual. And I refused to change it to Thomas when I married.

post counts have never been an issue with me at any time but recently, i have begun to appreciate the advantages of posting short, quick messages.

i believe all of us that are still at PPT are already adapting to the changes and know that the old forum is gone. however, sentimentality is just as inevitable as members looking back. while i miss some of the older members, the functionality and objectivity of the forum is just as important to me: that is, the freedom to discuss and inform about neopets without having to deal with neoboard antics and to a certain degree..total censorship. it is still a good source of information for the latest glitches, complaints and that alone is reason enough to stay for me, nevermind the change in personnel.

similarly, i have also been slightly annoyed, like Alex with one of the latest neoboard fashion: "b0xspeak". now, i am no grammar nazi and i can tell if mistakes are intentional or not. chatspeak is fine with me; i am pretty comfortable with the use of "words" like "1337", "omg", "wth"...but "b0xspeak" is quite different. an example of b0xspeak is like "LYKE ONG, YOUR SO RICH AND I AM SO POR IT SUXOR. YOU LIEK ROXOR MUCH CAN YOU DONATE TO MEH". despite the best efforts to "give the benefit of the doubt", i can't tell myself that a grammatical abomination like this is purely unintentional.
