the harry potter books changed the world. I also agree with LOTR ((which is actually a christian book thanks to symbolism. J.R.R. Tolkiens son wrote a book about the symbolism in the books))

I'm not sure about changed the world but...

Junk by Melvin Burgess caused a bit of a stir when released, and continues to have an imapct on teenage fiction to this day.
His more recent book, Doing It, has produced the same sorts of reactions- many writers fo teenagers have been appalled.
Burgess' writing has had and continues to have a big impact on writing for teenagers in general. I love him :P

I agree completely Igg, Burgess is excellent. He did a great umm..adaptation (I don't think that's quite the right word I'm looking for, but it'll do) of Billy Elliot. ^_^
