Nah, I'm not a vegetarian. I quite like meat. Ah well, I know a fair few people who are vegetarians though. I guess it's personal choice.

I just like being mean and ruining stuff for people.



(though vegetarian cheese is made with fungi instead)


Anyway, I see preferences of eating meat or not eating meat for whatever reason as a sort of religious thing. I won't tell a vegetarian off for making that choice. And I'd hope they wouldn't tell me off for making my choice.
Just like I won't make fun of your God, if you don't make fun of mine (or lack thereof).
It's rude and uncalled for either way.

You can get away with that, 'cause you eat meat. But if I say it, I'd be accused of preaching or whatever to people.

Even though I used to do that to people all the time when I did eat meat. (Usually because I wanted their cheese/jello.)

Anyway. I don't care if other people eat meat, that's their choice, just as it's my choice not to. If they don't make comments to me about what I eat, I'll give them the same courtesy.

(Exceptions for friends who know I'm joking. =P)

Well put. Well, of course, some animals can defend themselves, but not usually the ones that are eaten.

I'm curious. Can some of you vegeterians fill me in on your personal convictions against meat-eating? Or are there religious reasons behind them?

I fail to see the point in killing something for food when I can survive perfectly well without it.

Part of it is because I am a Christian. Other part is becuase I feel it is cruel to animals.

Animals can defend themselves just as well or better then humans, I agree with you on one point. I'm not above killing another human if they killed someone I was close to or something like that. But I would have no less mercy or incentive not to kill an animal if they did the same thing.
Animals can defend themselves just as well or better then a human, its just that we have weapons. And some animals also do in there own regards.
I don't go through the woods slaying squirrls and deers for fun. I think its cruel to kill an animal for game. But I wouldn't say it was cruel to kill an animal for food, if you had to. It wouldn;t be right to shoot a turkey with an arrow and have a whole refrigerator stocked with food back home, but I think I'll stop now, I've stated my point.

Qanda: I'm a vegetarian because I believe it's wrong to kill animals. Before anyone tells me that "omg liek u rnt saving animals by not eatin them," well REALLY? You mean I'm not saving countless animals by not eating or wearing them? Well gosh, I never knew that! You do what you want. I don't want to contribute to the killing of innocent animals.

Harvester combines also kill animals. Pesticides kill animals as well.

You'd rather kill a person than an animal? I find that extremely hard to believe. And what kind of animal? What about a bug?

Look at everything people have done. Killed other people, just for fun, not survival. Cheated their peers out of money, love, everything. Man as a whole is a sinful race... sure, some people wouldn't hurt anyone, physically or mentally. But many, many would and have already done. Animals have done nothing to other animals unless it was simply for survival... yet they will always be the only ones punished with unthinkable amounts of slaughter.

Punished? I doubt humans kill animals in the name of punishment.

And all humans kill each other and cheat each other? Not everything an animal does is for its personal survival. Male lions are known to commit infanticide, not for its survival or the surivival of its young, but to prevent the genes of another male from being passed on. There are many different different types of animals out there. Don't bundle all their psychology into one generalised form. It will be a false.

If you had to choose whether to kill a random human or a random animal (regardless of species or age), I have a hard time comprehending most humans, without psychological disorders, would kill their own, especially in cold blood.

Not all cheese is made that way.
Depending on what you buy, where you buy it and what type of cheese you're buying.
Considering you can make your own cheese at home (watch the foodnetwork if you don't believe me), without using that particular product you really shouldn't need to buy cheese in a store.

I eat meat, I was raised eating meat. My parents make sure there is meat with every meal. Even if I wanted to become a vegetarian I'm so used to having meat I don't know if I'd be able to cut it. A friend of mine went from eating meat everyday to a vegan the next day, good for her! I don't think I'm a "strong" enough person. If I was raised where meat wasn't a big part of all of my meals, I'd probably consider being a vegetarian.
