My friends made me get a MySpace the other day. I'll probably just end up deleteing it in a while anyways. Nexopia is enough for me.

I personally hate Myspace. 3/4 of the people on myspace are emos who lack attention and need to show millions of people that their life is "hard" when 99% of them have no real problems. Then the people with problems don't get any attention because they think its just another emo.

Anyone read that story about the kid who killed himself? Well he left a message on Myspace telling everyone he was sorry. His Space stayed up in his memory and his friends would go there to leave comments. Say how they miss him. That kid also happened to have an emo haircut. SO what do people do? Say stuff like "Ohh its just another emo who wants attention" This was in the news! its probably somewhere on the CNN website. Things like Myspace encourage the emo movement so I am against it.

Of course I stay off myspace. I don't go there looking for trouble or anything of the type. I just think its sad that things like this are abused by people to get attention.

Yes, people abuse MySpace, but if you're going to commit suicide, you don't go to MySpace for help, and they shouldn't be expected to provide it. I'm not a big fan of the "emo lifestyle" either (and I mean REALLY not a big fan of it), but I don't think MySpace encourages it any more than the thousands of crappy punk bands out there.

I don't believe that when you are going to commit suicide it is easy to seek help and posting that he is sorry on myspace is not looking for help. It was an easy way to tell his friends that he was sorry and life didn't have anything else to offer for him. The point is people see him as another attention seeking emo on myspace because they are crawling all over ther place. I think that is sad.

It is sad. One can be in any atmosphere, on any site, and find people of a different culture/ society (i.e. emo) that are seeking attention. It's like saying not to join Neopets because crazy Christians claim that it is the spawn of Satan, or not listening to a certain genre of music because some homosexuals listen to it. If it is good enough for you, do it. If it is not your cup of tea, don't drink it.

I am not saying that everyone who uses myspace is emo. I just think that there are too many emos on it for me to stay sane and I think they have taken over and ruin the website.

This is my opinion. I do not ask you to agree. This thread asked what we thought and thats what I think. I am not targetting anyone here or calling myspace users emos. I am entitled to my own opinion.

In short, I don't like MySpace. I have one, but that's only because some of my friends from HS that I keep in touch with have one. Also, I don't believe that every social networking site is bad. I have a Facebook, and I think it's tons better than MySpace. Some features are lacking true, but I like it more.

Now, if you want to be entertained for a few minutes, read this. It's a column I wrote for my HS newspaper. Now, before you get all excited, this piece is satire, which means that you shouldn't take any of it seriously. Now, I do agree with parts that I said in the column, but take it as a joke.

I like myspace. The emos amuse me, if they make too many bulletins, I delete them. I don't let things like that bother me really.

I love to keep in contact with my friends and know what they're up to. It's a great way of checking out local bands. Strange story, I'd been following a local band on myspace for ages who were amazing. I loved them. Turns out, they're all really good friends with my boyfriend, they went to his college and two of them are going to Uni with him in September.

Yeah, I got the own opinion part  That was my opinion.

Myspace, does have a large "emo" population I guess, but I don't really notice "them". It's not like there taking over.
