Aw, bless. Australia is so cool.

Yesterday they were showing special episodes of his show on Animal Planet, and I tuned into one because nothing else was on, and I ended up turning it off just because none of the stuff he said I found funny anymore, because he just died. :\

We were watching an old episode of him on Larry King last night. One segment was so sad. He was talking about his dog, Silly, who died. He was saying how she was there for the birth of his kids and went on adventures with him and they did everything together and at the end of the clip, he was crying and he said "This is the last entry in Silly's journal." and it showed him hugging the dog. It was so sad because I was thinking, "And now you're dead, too!" That really made me cry. ;_;

Personally, I never cared for steve, an i always assumed he'd die in some mundane way like being hit by a bus. Oh well we'll never forget him but some of the things the aus politicians are saying are stupid. they're comparing his death to the death of Lennon and Princess Di. Meh.
Wed Sep 06, 2006 12:17 pm
Well that's unfair. Steve Irwin was much more likeable than Princess Di and John Lennon.

He was way more modest, too. Wrestling with crocs wasn't bigger than Jesus, was it? Maybe it was. Has he ever been quoted with saying "I'm bigger than Jesus"?

I'm not a fan of the overkill by the media. Channel 7 had a tribute last night, and tonight's was Channel 9's turn. I'm expecting another one tonight.
The family isn't having a state funeral though, they're having a private one.

Yeah, the media is getting really annoying. At least I don't watch the news as much as I did before.
And apparently they've already set up "The Crikey Fund" which is to help protect the environment. And the Discovery Channel is going to have a Croc Hunter marathon next week.

I'm rather surprised, impressed and happy that the family is having a private funeral. I still feel badly for them. It was just so shocking. I think it's the fact that it's a weird death (by stingray), and that everyone expected him to be eaten by a croc or bit by a snake or something like that. Nobody really expected him to die swimming around.

It's almost surreal. I mean, you pictured something like this happening, but not this soon.
May God rest his soul.

They set that up shortly after he passed away. It's to help fund his zoo.

My aunt didn't believe my cousin when he told her this, its a bit like the joke about Willie Nelson. "Did you hear how Willie Nelson died? He was on the road again."
At least he died quickly, doing what he loved. I'm just glad that there is so much media out there with him in it, so his kids will at least get to remember their father doing what he loved.
Its going to just a little bit strange without the Crocodile Hunter from now on.
