Classic gem that happened last night:

We were having lamb chops. Mum was cooking them on the grill. Opens it to check on it... and flames appear. Not just one, but all of the chops had caught on fire.

Needless to say, we had takeout.

Gone, forever.

Ah, I just had my own. Unfortunately...I didn't read this thread, especially the post about boiling milk.

While my mom was in the kitchen making dinner, I was delegated the task of making instant mashed potatoes on our other element (the flat surface, tube heat ones). It was the first time in the 10 years we lived in the house that we used the element, and it worked like a charm. Quite clean, too.

...Except until I boiled milk over it, got careless and let it overflow, and didn't attempt wiping it away until after I turned off the element and waited a long time for it to cool.

Yup, there's still burnt milk stuck on the used-one-time-only element. My parents got half of it off using some special detergent, but there's still quite a bit left there that I don't know how to get off. >_<
