I drink straight from the can. If I'm carrying the can around before opening it and I see smudges of dirt or glue I'll wipe it all off with whatever I have on hand but otherwise I don't worry too much. I'm more likely to use a straw when I'm drinking out of the 300-600ml plastic bottles, don't know why, just force of habit I suppose.
