More conservative.

On a few issues, though, I lean more left; such as stem cell research. Using the tissue of babies who are gonna be aborted eitherway is making good use of resources. I know that probably sounds disgusting. Oh well. It's stupid to say OMB, you're killing babies!, if that's their parents plan no matter what.

Also, I agree with anyone who says most Christians are hypocrites. Morally, most people are... but a lot of us claim to be better than that.

Economic Left/Right: -4.63
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.92

It's the results I expected, more or less.
I wish I had the option of leaving some questions blank, as I don't have opinions on them. And I thought Prodi was more on the left. But whaverer.

Took the test...

Economic Left/Right: -1.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 1.33

Interesting results.

I'm very liberal when it comes to social issues...except I am for the death penality in cases of mass murders and people who kill firefighters/police officers/ etc.

economicly I vary from issue to issue.

I definitely consider myself liberal, but it looks like I'm on a similar path from MarchingDuck...I believe in the death penalty but only for very extreme cases like serial killers and major war criminals, and only with a LOT of proof and no shred of doubt (because honestly, I figure that if you're innocent enough to deserve acquittal someone would find some doubt)

On most of the "token issues" I take the liberal side: pro-choice, anti-war, pro-gay-rights, pro-environment, anti-corporation, etc.

And, of course, I jokingly (but not disingenuously) say that my main sources of news are The Daily Show and Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me xD

I fluctuate like the stock market when it comes to economic policy - I think that taxes should be raised and more options for government-assisted survival should be available, but then I also feel that a socialized economic policy makes us lose control of our money, so I think a lot of things should be private or opt-out.

I love politics...sometimes to a very unhealthy extent. XD

Economic Left/Right: 2.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.33

Here are my views on some hot button issues:

Pro gay marriage

Pro war

Pro death penalty

Pro choice, even though I strongly disagree with abortion

Anti national healthcare

Pro 2nd ammendment

Pro stem cell research

Anti global warming (meaning that I think it's a ridiculous lie backed with faux science, and its sole purpose is to force politicians to pander to the environmentalists' agenda. Please don't start a debate with me about it here. I don't want this thread to get shut down.)

Anti amnesty for illegals

Anti affirmative action

Pro women's rights

Pro capitalism

About animal rights: Like everyone else on the planet, I think that beating your dog or torturing an animal for fun or lighting cats on fire is wrong. I'm also against animal testing when you're using it for ridiculous stuff like deodorant or makeup. I'm all for animal testing if it's for medicinal purposes, such as AIDS research, etc. I'm also firmly pro hunting. I know people think that deers are just the cutest widdle fings ever, but they ruin our crops and eat all our grapes and since their natural predators have cleared out, the population will go absolutely nuts unless it's controlled.

As for US political parties, I'm repulsed by both at this point. I've never been a fan of the Democratic Party, but I'm practically apoplectic with rage over this amnesty for illegals issue. It's not like any of them wouldn't shoot their own Grandmothers to get re-elected, anyway. -_-

I'd like to state again that if anybody wants to debate me about anything, IM me or start something on the debate board. I really didn't post my views with the intention of starting a bloodbath, and I don't want this thread to get locked should an argument start up. Just posting what I think like Matterbug asked. Thanks!

My family owns a winery and I consider deer to be abnormally large vermin. I also agree with a very wise man who said that whales are drinking up all our water and eating our sailors.

I don't care for politics, but my personal views are fairly liberal, apparently.

Ah, now it makes sense.

It's still a kickin' quote.

You think that's bad? The other night, a deer ran out in the middle of the road and I almost hit it. That thing probably would have killed me if I hadn't been paying attention or the road had been wet.

My solution: Import grizzly bears to kill all the deer. Bears are awesome.

Stephen Colbert would be very upset. :(

here's the problem w. bears, wolves and other predators...

man.

basically one of the few spaces these animals have left to life wildly are national parks and reserves...where they can easily interact with the public, making it very dangerous for both man and animal. And as land becomes smaller and smaller the animals are forced into neighbor hoods where they cause more problems.

its not the animal's falt there. Its man's ever important need to expand </sarcasm>.

So naturally with few predators the deer population explodes. They're a pretty big problem here in missouri because they like to wander onto the highway and cause huge accidents...even kill some people (I dont recomend hitting a 10point buck).

we also have an overabundance of squirrels...

Going back to the earlier discussion about the political compass, I took the test a while ago (probably a year or so ago now) and got the following:

Economic Left/Right: -6.13
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.74

I think, since I was reminded of it, I will try it again and see if I'm the same or different...probably slightly more liberal as it seems I get more liberal by the day, but I dunno.

edit: and taking it again, I got

Economic Left/Right: -6.63
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.54

So I guess I'm still about the same, but slightly more to the lower-left. I sometimes worry that my leanings are a bit too extremist, but then I realise that in public I generally temper my raw opinions with my knowledge of general social trends and reactions.

Sun Jun 03, 2007 5:33 am

Almost every online pins me as centrist or libertarian (I actually got 0, 0 on the political compass once) but I think that's because I don't passionately care about certain social issues. So to the world it becomes an "I don't care as long as it doesn't hurt me" thing. Not very many topics get this reaction but I suppose enough do to push me to centrist land.

Personally I identify as a conservative. Just because I don't get activist over certain issues and won't implode if things don't go "my" way on them does not mean I don't have my own opinions.
