You might want to include the second to last line as well.

Don't be afraid to see the truth, even if no one wants you to. Be yourself and not a fool. Don't ever be afraid to speak your mind and listen to criticism. Dissent is keeps our country progressive and willingness to challenge yourself is what keeps yourself ever evolving.

There isn't one, I'm afraid. It's a little scene of itself - as the other charactes leave the hospital, John comes in to collect the trash and makes that single comment.

Eekers. Math.

I've tried solving this for about an hour already...

Quote:
In isoceles trapeziod ABCD, the longer base, segment AB, is one and one half times as long as the shorter base, segment CD. The other two sides, segments AD and BC, are both 13 cm long.
a. If the perimeter is 76 cm, find the lengths of segments AB and CD.
b. If the height of the trapezoid is 12 cm, find its area.

So I let x equal segment CD and x times 1.5 equal segment AB.

x+x1.5+13+13=76

x+x1.5+26=76
x+x1.5=50
x2.5=50
x=20
Segment CD=20 cm
Segment AB=50 cm
Segments AD and BC (added together)=26
20+26=46+50=96

So my answer is wrong. In my other attemps, I got 25 equals x and 33.3333333(repeating). Help?

The question was a bit difficult to understand, so you probably just overlooked a part of it. =)

Quote:
segment AB, is one and one half times as long as the shorter base, segment CD

Quote:
x+x1.5=50

That's where the problem is. With the equation you set up, you established a 2:3 ratio between the segments instead of a 1:3. =)

In other words, it should be .5x + 1.5x = 50 or x + 3x = 50.

Ackers, crackers! I got a science project from Irate Irwin, and I'm not sure I quite understand it... just need a non-confused person's POV of what this means:

I have to demonstrate knowledge of a major biome (I'm doing grasslands)

I would guess you need to know about the aspects of the biome (rainfall, temperature, etc.) and what lives there. "Demonstrate knowledge" is a very broad idea.

Yep... very broad. That's why I asked. Mostly I've been researching animals that live there, because it's just *more fun*.

Hello, jackals!

*starts humming "you're playing with the big boys now"*

Ok... I'll get to work on the boring stuff now... *grumbles*

Uhhh, I need a question for a science project... by tomorrow (Monday). It needs to be an experimental project (setting up a controlled experiment). Unfortunately my mind is vacant and I can think of nothing to do. So hopefully one of you great happy people will give me an idea! I need to do something in a certain category, and these are the categories:
Ecology & Conservation
Energy Resources
Forces & Motion
Weather
Astronomy
Electricity & Magnetism
Geology
I can't test on humans or animals, but I think I can use plants. So uhhhhh, any ideas?

Perhaps maybe a science project how certain plants act in diff. weather conditions? That was the first thing that came to mind.

Well I already did something like that in fifth grade, and we're not allowed to do an experiment we did in elementary school. However, that was the only science project I did (thank you, old school that doesn't do science projects!), soooo anything else would be good!
Oh yeah, it has to be like, a 7th grade level project. So something not too simplistic.

I have an impossible extra credit problem for anyone who'd like to help. :P

Basically, it's this: add together numbers containing only 0 and 7 in a way so that they add up to 1.

Examples of numbers you can use: 70, 7, 0.7, .07
Repeating decimals are allowed as well. The end result has to be exactly one, and you can only add or subtract.

Any ideas?

is what my friend said. I dunno how else to help you out besides giving it... >P

some problems i gotta do for math are really starting to smurf (yes, i purposly typed smurf) me off, because im horrible with conversions :( soo anyhow please help

1.) When we arrive in Munich, we rent a VW Touran (4 door minivan) for $632.48 including
insurance. When we turn in the car on November 27, they charge us EUR 524.95. Is this
the correct charge? ______If not, what should we be charged?

2.) If one liter of gasoline costs EUR 1.10, what is the cost of one gallon in $?__________.
In Switzerland we had to pay 2 CHF for a liter. How much is that per gallon in (a) Euro
and (b) dollars? a._______ b._________

3.)When in Italy, we DO NOT drink the water, even when cleaning our teeth (It is ok to drink
the water in all of the other countries we will visit.) In shopping around for a 1½ liter bottle
of water, you discover a 6 pack of 1½ liter bottles sells for Eur 6 in a grocery store. A
single bottle costs Eur .80 at a restroom stop on the highway and Eur 1.5 per bottle at a
hotel. How much in dollars is a single bottle in each instance in US $?

I need some help.... ive been reading "a seperate peace" for my english class, and for those of you who had read AND discussed it, you probably have heard about how Phineas/Finny has a decalouge (its supposed to be on page 58 but im not seeing it...) but either way, he has a decalouge thats supposed to relate to teh ten commandments, and i know we cant really discuss religion on open boards so if somebody could please PM me or something, im writing this HUUUUUUGE 12 page long paper, and i need to understand how the decalouge really relates to the 10 commandments. Can anybody help me? *please?*
