I've decided to give up fast food for Lent, except I'm having a hard time defining which restaurant establishments are considered fast food exactly.
The list includes the usual: Burger King, McDonald's, In n Out (gasp, I know), Jack-in-the-Box, Taco Bell, KFC, take-out pizza....
But what about places like Baja Fresh, World Wraps, Fresh Choice, etc.?

So the question is-- how do you define fast food?

PS. I consider anything you can make at home (including frozen/boxed food) as not fast food.

I define fast food as exactcally what it is, food that is made really quickly!

Many people think Burgers and Pizza is fast food. I think otherwise. :)

It does, of course, have to be made by other people. :P

depends there is healthy fast food and greasy fast food.

I'd just skip bad greasy fast food that also includes pop.

wraps are healthy most of the time, until you get into the mayo & cheese on it.

But mostly to me fast food is the grease/high calorie stuff.

Anything bought from outside (Like cooked meals, etc...) is fast food. Except if they are bought at a grocery store. At least, this is what I think.

I personally define anything that generally has a drive thru fast food. Your obvious, McDonald's, Taco bell, and then sometimes your not so obvious like some Long John Silvers. <_< But that's the way I gauge it anyway.

<STOWA|Sleep> my sister questioned the title. "Half Blooded Prince? Does that mean he's a Moogle"

To me, the sandwich places can be considered fast food as well.

Sit-down restaurant types aren't fast food. Places that serve things on real plates and real utensils aren't fast food.

Well I think if you want to know for the purpose of giving up the unhealthy stuff then fast food is anything greasy. Obviously, if you get a cup of water at MacDonalds it is fast, but it's not really that unhealthy.

Fast Food is anything fast. I mean, an antelope is fast food. It sprints up to 55mph.

Hmm, at Subways, it depends on what toppings you get, same with Quizno's or Mr. Sub.

Mostly I think of it as food you eat outside of your home, yet it's not at a restaurant...unless you think of McDonald's as a restaurant  So McDonald's, Subway etc. etc. Anything you can buy there, I think of as fast food.

I think of fast food as anything that you buy over a counter, as long as it's not pre-packaged stuff.

For instance: places where you sit down and buy your meal, no. Also, if you go to a stand somewhere and buy a candy bar or a bag of chips, that's more shopping than fast food, in my opinion. But if you walk up to a counter, place an order, they scoop it into a bag and hand it to you, that would be fast food.

Wow, that was really convoluted - probably because I'm not too sure myself. At any rate, good luck with Lent. :)

Woo another person who is giving something up for Lent. I think Kim, in order to get the best definition of fast food you should consider why you decided to give up fast food for Lent and base your decisions of which places you will include or not include on that. :)

I think that stuff like those mircrowaveable dinners and stuff, could be considered fast food. It certainly is bad for you. But a lot of restaurants that have greasy and fast food, basically, lol. Normally good restaurants take longer, though sometimes that isn't the case. It's kinda hard to define, I guess o.O; *scratches head* yeah...
