I got the sober worm into my yahoo account! I don't know how to get rid of it and now I have people replying to the german emails "I" am sending. I don't even know what they are saying?!

How can I get rid of a virus in my yahoo account? And how do I know it isn't already all over my computer?

Well, I suggest running a virus scan first. I'm not really sure how to get it out of your inbox though.

Well I don't know how it works. It is on my yahoo, so I don't think a virus scanner can get it off of yahoo. I contacted the people from yahoo, but I suppose they have millions of accounts to clear. Anyway, I just hope having the virus doesn't mean that someone can read my mail. Because I don't like that idea.

Ok, but I already have nortons and I keep it updated pretty much. I think I don't really have the full virus, I think it is just in my yahoo account. Anyway, I hope nortons would catch it if it were in my computer.

This might help: http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ Download the stinger.exe from there and run it on your computer. It's a specialised tool for digging out various worms and trojans including the sober worm. Sometimes the bigger virus scanners can't root them out properly but stinger can =)

I've cleared loads of computers of viruses, stinger is my best friend :)

If however it is just in your yahoo account (if you use a webmail type thing rather than outlook) then you need to delete any emails with suspicious attachments. However if it is sending e-mails off then your computer is almost certainly infected so give stinger a bash and see if it can get rid of it.

Clear out any emails that are not from people you trust and have any kind of attachments. Then you could try changing your password and secret questions, just in case the worm works like a hacker.

Trend is better than Nortons as well. Nortons is the system resource eater and McAffee is just bad. Don't run either! XD

I've been getting an insane amount of emails in german. Just reporting them madly.

Thanks for clearing this up for me, and goodluck, Smudge.

It not only crashed mine and several other people's computers, it can be expensive, and it buries itself so deep into your registry you have to like, uninstall it several times. My sorority sister had to uninstall 5 times before it was gone. I hate it.
