Yay! Redecorating! I've wanted to redecorate my room for years now, but its such a hassle to move all my stuff (which is lots of heavy wooden furniture) so I can paint my walls.
It'd be more helpful if I could see a pic of what your room looks like, but I'm sure I can use my imagination.
I really recommend, seeing as this is your bedroom, that you don't use too bright colours on your walls, bright colours are helpful when you need to think and help stimulate your mind, but seeing as you're going to be sleeping in this room softer colours would probably be better.
Oh! I almost forgot! *slides chair over to bookshelf and gets Feng Shui book off shelf then slides back to desk*
I bought this book when I was in the US last January

I have a slight obsession with decorating and feng shui and such, though I haven't been able to really put it to good use yet.
Where in your house is your room located? Like, if you drew a square around your property (well, closer to your house if you live on acreage) with your front door being in the South and then divided the square into nine equal pieces, where is your room? (Eg, my room is upstairs in the bottom right square).
You should probably make sure the colours of your room, or at least the area near your bed, are 'safe' colours, like brown, 'majesty' (when you add brown or black to another colour), white, green or gold. But that doesn't mean that the area near your desk can't have bright stimulating colours like yellow, purple, blue, orange, red or black.
Also, try to keep the colours in your room in a 'theme', like, use similar colours, Eg paint two of your walls lime green, one fuschia pink and the remaining wall and roof white, then make your bed spread use similar colours and use the same material or colours in your furniture (Eg, my desk, bookshelf, dresser and bed are all made of pale wood, probably pine).
I don't know where you'd find any of the items you're looking for, I don't visit many furniture stores here (let alone in the US)
Well, I hope you managed to see some semblance of advice or help in this giant post, honestly, I think my flu-dulled mind just wanted an excuse to ramble on...
