I'm applying for early entry to St. John's College and a couple of others right now. Of course, I couldn't possibly be sensible enough to apply anywhere that accepts the common application. Sigh. I've got roughly 15 pages of admissions essays to write/edit, in addition to all of the different forms. Still, it'll be worth it next year when I'm on top of a mountain discussing the Great Books. :)

I know that a few more of you are suffering through the college application process right now. Tell me about it.

Ouch, that sucks. I sorta had the same problem too, only one of the schools I was applying to used the Common App. But luckily I didn't have to write that much for my essays.

And for all of y'all that are applying to college, don't worry, there is an end. :P You will feel very relieved after you send off your last application, and even more so after you get your admissions decisions.

Oh, and don't put applying off until the last minute, it doesn't usually work (like when you're applying online and the servers are down for the application because so many people are submitting them at the same time. <_<)

The boy who is my friend goes to St. Johns in Annapolis, but is transferring to the New Mexico one next year (though he does love Annapolis, so who knows if he'll actually do that). Anyways I remember well his angst upon having to do all the entrances and whatnot. I feel for you, I really do.
But then, I had to submit portfolios, so I don't feel too badly for you. Portfolios + writing = suck. Note my eloquence? I feel I should apply for St Johns too (HA! yea... right)

Thanks for the advice, Dragonfire! :)

Rachel, I hope you did really well on your GREs. Now, sit back, have some cocoa, and don't think about them again until you get your scores back. :)

Oh, it's not that scary! Okay, the applications are that scary. But college is awesome once you get there. I've been taking some classes at the community college, and it's so much better and more fun than high school that you wouldn't believe it. :)

Cool! Quick poll: is there a college in the world where I'll never run into someone who's somehow connected to PPT? 'Cause I want to avoid those. ;)

Yeah, the entrance stuff is scary. A good 12 pages of my essays are for St. John's...and I've only actually written 6. But man, my best friend applied to all sorts of art schools last year, and I am still afraid of all the portfolios she had to put together. *hugs*

I'm applying early decision to Hamilton College :) I'm planning on sending in my application on Wednesday. Luckily for me, Hamilton and my other back up schools all use the Common App, so instead of 4 different essays, I only have to write one (and fill out the supplements, but compared to whole other applications, those aren't too bad.)

Good luck with your applications! :)

I've sent my applications.

East Anglia have given me an ABB offer already, so I know I will be able togo to uni, lol.
I still have 2 essays to submit to Worcester College at Oxford; and The Courtauld Institute of the Arts have sent me a form to fill in and I need to send them an essay too.

Who knows? :P You applied to Oxford, eh? What for?

History of Art interviews are 4th-5th December, but I'll have to go down the day before. I daresay I'd have a lot of free time, so if you're about you should definitely let me know.

Provided I actually got an interview. Which is going to be impossible if I don't write this damned essay!

Good luck! I'm currently at community college and I hate it because it doesn't really seem structured, and I like structure. I'm applying to one about a mile and half from my house, I got in last year so I'm pretty sure I'll get in again. Besides, California has some of the best colleges in the country. Too bad it costs like $50 just to apply.

It is a bit frustrating and tedious though.
