I really want to learn french, and I've come to the conclusion that I need way more practice writing/speaking than I'm going to get in class. So, does anyone know of any forums in french?

when i was learning french in school, i tried playing yahoo games in french. the only problem with that i assume you'd pick up some french chatspeak. still, it's a starting point.

the problem with forums is that you get a lot of chatspeak and englishisms. Forums are not an excellent place to learn french.

Once you know a decent amount of French, I think that its a good idea to visit some forums and see how actual French people write in an informal setting. Its kind of interesting to see things like "MDR" instead of "LOL" and so forth. I dont know any French forums besides Neopets though. Seeing some of the informal stuff is helpful in learning certain things, but Neopets forums are way too informal to do any good.

Actually, there was a multi-language forum I used to visit all the time. I usually looked at the English topics to learn about English from a non-native speakers perspective, but there were always some neat topics in French or about French idioms, etc. I wonder what that place was o_O

I've gone on neo in french before on occasion, but that only helps with reading, which I'm way better at then speaking. I figure if it's a forum as opposed to a chatroom it'd be pretty decent grammar wise, and if there were things like lol or omg or something, I could always just ask(speaking of which, what's mdr mean?)

MDR is mort de rire or 'died of laughing.' They kept using it where a lol would be, and I thought it was ridiculously cool when I asked what it meant.

I was always really good at reading French too. My speaking skills are pretty bad in general, so I wouldnt expect that to change in another language.
