Ok, tonight is the last hockey game before Christmas. (http://www.mudbugshockey.com) This means that my dad is going as Santa. This year I've decided to go as an elf helper--it's fun :) but I have no idea how to handle so many little kids. HELP ME!!!

Ask them do you want to see santa? First say what you want for christmas and then let your dad as santa do the rest ok?

Sit in the background with a mallet hitting pieces of wood :P

Or alternatively, kidnap the children. That's what elves do right?

Wait, so one of the people who helps keep everyone in line and all?

Talk with them. That's probably the most important thing, keeping them from getting bored in line. Maybe think of some simple games that they can play without having to move around?

Smile, and practice biting your lip when you really want to yell at the little kids who kick you in the shins.

Tell the kids that if they don't behave, they're gonna get coal in their stockings. :P

Seriously though, just smile and keep your cool, and remember that this doesn't happen all the time. Also, get some bubble wrap - a good stress reliever.

From experience I can tell you young kids are much more receptive to someone who's funny.
And infinitely valuable, don't treat them like idiots. Treat them as humans, as you would treat anyone else.
Even if you never need it, try and learn names. This is difficult in a small period of time, but if there's a long line, no one wants to just be "that kid".
