I'm thinking of getting my septum pierced and was wondering if anyone here has had it done? Any horror stories, experiences stuff like that....?

:)

OHH...... Erm, actually I had a girl friend once who had that pierced... she didn't seem too bothered by the pain, but uh... she also didn't mind pain. *heh*

If you're afraid of the pain, you can perforate it by cocaine abuse. 0:)

I'd advise you not to get a piercing. In fifty years, when you're an old lady with arthritis and lumbago, you'll regret having a hole in your nostrils.

hehe thanks guys. :P

CWisgood-I'm not going to be keeping it untill I'm like 50. If I decide I don't like it anymore or whatever, I'll take it out and let it heal. Besides, as the whole is on the inside of your nose, its not noticable unless you have a ring in.

Everyone I know who's had a nose stud/nose ring has either had complications(like infections or abscesses) or taken it out after a month. Those were mostly nostril piercings, but even so, I know a crowd of people with eyebrow piercings, lip piercings, and stretched-out ear cartilage, and they tend to steer clear of the nose.

I really want my eyebrow and lip done but I have a effed up problem.

my main job doesnt allow it (or visable tattoos...which is ok, those are easy to cover).

but my 2nd job which I like much better (but I dont get many hours at all right now) enourages you to be yourself (dress and look how you want. which is rad).

its just so frustrating because I really want to get my peircings done while I'm still young enough to enjoy them (lol).

I know a couple of people who have them and they become truly revolting when you have a headcold or when your nose runs in winter.

If you have an immune system of steel and live in Florida, go for it. Otherwise? Think long and hard.

Ive got a friend with her septum done. I personally think it really suits her, and she's had it for at least a year or two. The only problem she seems to have is losing the jewelry. But thats likely her own fault. I personally wouldnt get it done because my body seems to hate being pierced. If I didnt reject anything poked into me, I'd consider it.

I don't like those. I know someone who got one and she became a lot less attractive. She also took it out after a month. A no from me =)

My boyfriend has a septum piercing and personally I really like it.
He got it done back in March, and it healed nicely and fairly quick. You shouldn't have too many problems with infection as long as you clean it properly. The piercing place we went to provided him with a little bottle of special soap to use on it, so I would ask your piercer about something like that. He also didn't have much trouble with runny noses and such bugging it. I do know though that when he first got it, sneezing hurt.

As for pain factor, as far as I know where they pierce is cartilage, which hurts more than just through a piece of skin. He said it hurt a bit and that it really makes your eyes water (another friend who has it done also told us about the eyes watering).

As for rings for it, I like it cause you don't just have to go with a normal hoop ring. A friend of mine has a barbell through his and it looks awesome. Right now my boyfriend has a piece in his that looks like a staple (almost like the one in the image you posted, just smaller, no balls on the ends and not as circular), which he has so he can hide the piercing in his nose when he takes his jujitsu classes. So say you have some sort of event where you don't want your piercing showing or cant have piercings and don't want to take it out, you can also get those. It just flips up in to your nose and the piercing is hidden. As far as I know, it's not uncomfortable, he hasn't complained yet.

I can't really give you the bad on it (I'm sure people do have their horror stories), as his went and still is working out fairly well.

In short...I like them. :)

Nothing can be worse than a spine ring (That's literally the only way I could describe it, but I doubt it was actually in the guys Spine)
Was at a 36 Crazyfists gig, and a shirtless guy at the front came into view.
It was like seeing the Borg.

No- although I've had my ears pierced for ages (since I was a toddler), I don't plan on getting any other piercings, let alone a septum (bull/nose?) ring. I guess it's just not my thing.
