A virus? On a chat? O_o Not quite sure that's how it works. I think you can only get them from downloads, e-mails, and websites...

I think I know what you're talking about. A random invite pops up, and the invite message has a giant link in it that says "CLICK HERE". As long as you didn't click there, and just went into the actual chat, I think you're ok. I don't think viruses are spreadable through AIM chats.

Viruses can't really be sent straight through the chat itself as in the text and all, but it is through links ofcoarse. But scan just to be safe.

If you get any more of those, decline them, warn the person that sent it (warning doesn't really have much effect, but at least it lets them know you're annoyed at them) and block the person.

Hmm, as long as you don't use IE as a browser, and don't click yes to any message on the site I think you're kinda safe even if you were to click that link :)

Actually, it only says, "An internet user." It doesn't specify.

Well sometimes there are shortcuts that invite everybody online into one conversation/chat area. If one person hits the button, the perople on their contact list will be invited inside. Maybe that's what happens sometimes, and maybe that's what happened? X_x

Actually, no it doesn't. Their account is frozen for a few hours and they can't send messages.
