I have an in-grow toenail that really hurts.... How do I treat it?
I have been putting lanacane on it and it makes it not hurt for about 15 minutes....
How do I really treat it?

Your best bet is probably to go see a doctor and have them remove it.

Ehh, try soaking it in warm water and then cut it off with nail clippers really far in, this will relieve the pressure. :)

I'd just go to the doctor and have them remove it. It'd be better than trying to get it out yourself and having to cut your toe off because you did something to it.

I agree go see a doctor, plus they can tell if it's infected and treat that as well.

Of course, many doctors have a habit of cutting off way more than the nail than needs to be. Unless it looks infected (puss coming out etc), I'd deal with it myself.

...Then again, I've been getting ingrown toenails for years and cutting them out myself, I've only had one get infected to where I had to see a doctor.

I occasionally get minimally ingrown nails. The best way to deal with it if it's not ingrown TOO much is to take a tool, like the hook-end of the file on a pair of nailclippers, and slowly work it along the edge of the nail until you reach just past the point where it leaves the nailbed. Start at the end of the nail, and slowly move in. This will hurt, but you don't want to numb it first, because that'll keep you from knowing if you've gone too far (hurts more).

If it's starting to swell, puss, or turn a color other than your normal skin tone, schedule an appointment with a physician.

Try to do what Shapu said, but instead of cutting it I like to wedge a tiny bit of cottonball fluff under it, which helps for me at least.

Hmm.. I didn't even know there was a way to treat them really. I've always just froze it, took tweezers, and do the tooth thing. Told tweezers on nail. Tie a string to the tweezers, other end of the string to a doorknob.

Ok, that is not true in the least. Go to a doctor.

I would like to thank you for that explanation, as I'd just decided I should probably try to explain what I meant. But now I don't have to. =P

Agreed; Go to the doctor :P

I got a nasty infection in one of my toes once due to an in-grown nail, and then I went to the doctor and they had to perform a small operation on it, and now thanks to that the nail on my left big toe will always remain split... it looks rather strange :P

Doctor.

I've been getting ingrowns for quite a bit now. It's better to just go to a podiatrist.
