PC Games for 6 year olds

Sat Jan 01, 2005 2:48 pm

Hey all... I need some help. I need some computer games for a 6 year old. He has his own computer, but I don't think he can play civ 3 or sim city (whatever version) too well... I think they're too complex for him right now. He can read individual letters, but not words, so anything the computer wants him to do has to be outloud, or with pictures. (Half the point of the computer is to get him to learn to play on his own.) Does anyone know of any games? Oh, and the computer isn't hooked up to the internet. He's got Lemmings right now, and he's doing alright with it. Any other games that are good for his age?

I've never even heard of half these games! My family got our first computer when I was like 7... but I don't remember getting any games or the internet until I was like 12-13.

Thanks so much for the ideas!! And yeah, I think he might be a little old for manhunt. I won't even let my husband play that lol!

Edit:

I went on ebay and bought 4 games:
Freddi Fish 1: The Missing Kelp Seeds
Putt-Putt Travels Through Time
Bailey's Book House
Rugrats Mystery Adventures

Thanks for the help guys :) If anyone else has any suggestions, I won't object to them. ;)

My 5 year old daughter & the Day Home Kids I look after seem to really like

Zaboomafoo I have Animal Alphabets & Animal Kids(I like how they have 3 different skill levels so it still challenges older kids), Caillou but 6 seems to outgrown Caillou, and almost anything Reader Rabbit.

You can find some nice kids games at Walmart. You can check Toys R Uss, too. My oldest two girls are 7 and 5 1/2. Every once in a while, we'll pick them up a new game: Barbie, Hello Kitty, Carebears, Blue's Clues, etc. There are boy games there, too. ;) They have about 6 or so minigames where you solve puzzles or spell things to move on or whatnot. Very nice for some quiet computer time. :)

I always liked those JumpStart games. I forgot what they're called, but it's something like "JumpStart Kindergarten" and they go up through the grade levels. Someone help me out on the name..

yeah, that's me ;). lol :D

I think I've seen some JumpStart games... Thanks so much again for all the help guys  When I was 6 I didn't have a computer lol! Not to mention the 20 years makes a difference in computer games. I just bought Carmen SanDiego on ebay too :P I remember playing that, and I think it had everything say it outloud so you didn't have to know how to read, didn't it?
