Ohhhh, the DS owns all! I got mine a couple days ago (had to call a couple stores ahead since they've gotten a bit hard to find) along with the staple game Mario 64. The controls take some getting used to, but they've added some extra features that make up for it. Every now and then I stop and think, Wow! I'm playing a 64 game on a handheld! It's awesome.

I've already gotten 60-something stars, so I figure I'll have this game beaten pretty soon...any recommendations for another DS game? Or I'll just wait for that Yoshi one.

By the time it comes out on my birthday AC/DS and Advance Wars should be out. But I did play the demo of Metroid. It was SWEET!

I got one for Christmas. It came in a "pack" thing with a Metroid demo, Pacman, and Mario 64 DS.

<3 it but wish it went further than 65 feet... I'll be SO happy when they get the internet connections going with it.

The DS and PSP are both 128 bits, they are equally powerful! I wish the DS would be better, but I must accept that they are equally powerful and people should go with whichever has better games. But could someone please tell me how the PSP has better games then the DS when it's not even out, yet?

PSP is out in Japan currently.

OK, here is what the PSP can do.
Play MP3's
Play movies off UMD discs
Can display Small movies and pictures off a memory stick
It has PS2 graphics while the DS has N64 graphics

Now, here is what you probably don't know.

The price in Japan is $185 so it costs more than the DS

You need a special memory stick to save games, play MP3's, look a pics, and watch videos (other than UMD movies). A memory stick means more $$$ to spend so that takes the the price to over $200 before you even buy a game. And the only memory stick out currently is 32 MB and you can only store like 10-20 songs on 32 MB.

Now hear is the killer, the battery life. This is the sole reason that I am not buying a PSP. It can go below 2 hours when doing multiplayer! LESS THAN 2 HOURS!!!!! When not doing multiplayer and playing a game like ridge racers, it lasts about 2 hours. If you are playing a puzzle game it could last around 6 hours. The battery life is ABSURD! Just think about that before you go buy one.

I just saw some sales numbers from Japan for the DS and PSP. Now granted the DS had a ten day head start but well, even if it didn't have that head start, it would still be winning. The numbers were like 850k for DS and 225k for DS. I am just going to leave you with one little fact. The gameboy has crushed 12 straight competitors and EVERY single competitors had better graphics. Right now the PSP is looking a lot like the Game Gear. Better graphics but terrible battery life and we all know how that turned out...

P.S. PsP iS tEh SuxOrS aNd TeH Ds Is teh 1337!!!11111

P.P.S. Sorry, I had to get that out of my system.

It can go further than 65 feet if there is nothing in between your DS and the other DS. I went to the top floor of my house and my friend was in the basement and it still worked. And Chromefox, I HAVE 134 STARS SO :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P (Refer to P.P.S. for explanation)!

This is well known already. ONE of them has to be the more expensive system. Would the DS suck just because it costs more than the PSP? No it would not. Anyway, higher quality hardware costs more to produce therefore it has to cost more to purchase.

Everything costs money, while that may be of some concern, it's not going to matter to people that know they are going to buy it. Buying a system just to watch movies and play songs is stupid. If you're buying it for that, then you are buying it for the wrong reason. Memory Cards (in this case "sticks") have been around for years, just because they are small doesn't mean that it isn't going to get bigger, look at the DS's lineup at release. It was horrible. Anyway, companies can and probably will use problems that occured in Japanese markets to start production of items that will improve all problems they've encountered. Heck they might even begin production on a better PSP from these findings.

Powerful hardware that can perform multiple tasks require additional battery life. This will probably be corrected, whether by seperate items, or in the PSP in itself eventually. Maybe the battery life is telling people that they shouldn't be sitting around playing videogames all day. Who knows...

 Sales mean nothing as far as "Which Console is better". All that determines is that there are more people interested in the DS and that there are more fanboys with the money to buy it at a specific point in time. The fact that the PSP sold less means that there are less people interested in it and there were less fanboys with enough money to buy it (not less fanboys mind you).

Twelve!? I'd like to see that list as I can only count about five or six. I'm guessing most of those were never released in America, and seeing as we're talking about the American release, I don't think those really count. Better graphics yes, but did they have better games? Of course the Gameboy has been selling better, for the reason mentioned above and the fact that people can't seem to break away from their roots (which can be good and bad). I don't think the PSP can flop as badly as you say. With so many fanatics willing and ready to buy the PSP, it may sell horribly or not as well as the DS, but to fail worse than the GameGear it almost impossible for the PSP. I think that supply and demand will take its toll here.

- - - - - - - -

I know that all of that was choppy, but I made all the points that I intended to. Either way, I don't intend to buy either of them since pocket gaming isn't my thing. Just thought I'd defend the side that was being attacked by statistics.

Tazzaler, I also think that it was unwise to bring this up in a topic especially for the DS. Possibly a seperate topic for the PSP would be better than clogging up the DS topic with this stuff. (Not trying to take your job Mods, just offering a suggestion. ;) )

Game.com
GameGear
GamePark32 (Don't know if that counts)
Sega Nomad
Lynx
NeoGeo
N-Gage
NeoGeo Pocket Color
WonderSwan
WonderSwan Color
PCEngine TurboGT

Gah, I know there at least one more but I can't think of it! Well, that's 11 of them. And I am not saying the PSP will flop. This could end up being N64 VS PS all over again. I am just saying that IMO, DS is far better. *glances at sig* *runs off and plays DS* *runs back and realises (sp?) that I didn't hit the submit button* *hits submit button* *runs off and plays DS*

So it's a mini X-Box, basically? Anyways, the DS and does NOT have 64-bits, it has 128-bits! The exact same as the PS2! How do I know this? I HAVE a DS and I know my bittage. The graphics are much more smooth and crisp compared to the N64 and the games are much more then the N64 can handle. It even says in the VG magazines I read that it is 128-bits. The reason everyone says it's 64-bits is because one of it's games has "64" in the title.
