I tend to favour Lulu. I've yet to get Doublecast, but once I do, i'll be unstoppable. Whoo!
I am soon to get Hastega as well. That will be useful. It'd be three blurs...peeeeeeoooooowwwwwwwwnnnn!
And you?

Right now I'm trying to complete Rikku, Tidus, and Auron's Grid. Almsot done with Rikku and Tidus. Everyone else but those three and Wakka have almost nothing on their Sphere Grids. With time I suppose.

I finished Zanarkand for the fifth time. Now my goal is to get the secret weapons, which will be dang near impossible. Upgrading, not getting

AKA you're getting me to do it for ya, Kev. :P

Anyways, my best characters are probably Lulu, Wakka, and Auron. Rikku is okay, Yuna is awesome once she finally knows Holy, and Tidus is a pretty good all-around character.

Kimahri...sorta sucks and is just...There. ^_^;;

I'm playing FFX for the first time and am on the calm lands.

- I spent all today playing blitzball. I finally have gotten the hang of it. I have all the normal team members but replaced botta with Rin since he was the first recruitable person I've found, levels range from Tidus at 20 to datto at 11. Al Bhed Psyches still slightly agrivating to beat.

- Currently I think I can beat defender x with a moderate amount of difficulty.

- I think I may have missed the demolition sphere something in bevelle temple which will screw up my ability to quest for anima and the magus aparently...

- Can someone give me some AP leveling tips/tricks of their own?

Well, I know once you get enough custom creatures for the Battle Arena... thingy, and fight them (though this could possibly be A LOT further in the game), you can get weapons with Double or Triple AP very easily by beating some of the easier creatures. Once you get the weapon, you can get a ton of AP from the creatures that you can beat. Also, secret weapons (though most are very hard to get) also have Double/Triple AP on them.

Since I'm not positive where you are exactly in the game, I can't really give any good leveling spots, and the the other spots are probably spoilers :P . Once you do get those weapons, you get a "level" almost every (or every other) battle, sometimes two.

I've generally tried to be careful to use everyone evenly on the grid, but i've found this makes my characters struggle to win - i've backtracked to the Calm Lands now, and plan to train Tidus there until he learns Hastega. Same with Yuna with Holy, and Lulu with Doublecast.
Before I fight Yunalesca again, i'll try and fill up each character's basic grid before going into the next. Kimahri is already stalking Rikku on the grid.
Lulu is superb. Were it not for her Bio attack, I would never have beaten Seymour Flux.
I heard that Holy works wonders on Yunalesca - what does it do to her?

I never used Holy on Yunalesca (maybe I should have), but I'm guessing that it does a considerable amount of damage, probably 9999 if you're high enough. My favorite attacks are Hastega with Quick Attack. Once you level up enough, quick attack (I think that's the name) will be your best friend. ;)

I need to max out Rikku so I can move onto Yuna, Lulu, or Kimahri (probably Yuna)... they are so horribly low that I feel I HAVE to get them up.

I've tried to keep all the characters circulating so that they are evenly leveled, plus it seems to be easier to switch to your reserve squad. Having 7 party members however stuffs things up a bit, and I think yuna, rikku, and lulu has lagged slightly because they are useless at capturing monsters.

I personally use Tidus, Auron, and Yuna. The three of them have learned almost all the abilities, including Doublecast, Ultima, Steal and Use, and a good variety of Black and White Magic. I also train Rikku a bit, though not as much as Tidus, Auron and Yuna, as I occasionally need Rikku's Mix Overdrive.

Auron and Yuna's Celestial Weapons are fully powered up. Couldn't be bothered to do chocobo racing, so I'm working on a custom weapon for Tidus.

All aeons obtained.

Yuna's stats is the highest in everything, and she deals close to 99,999 damage. ^_^

Yeah, I know. I play this game too much. =P

Defender X isn't too hard if you know what you're doing. Try using Provoke.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to miss the Destruction sphere in Bevelle Temple. Trust me, you CAN'T leave the temple without it. You must have gotten it confused with another chest. There's another chest containing a Knight Lance for Kimahri, which is a rather crappy weapon anyway, maybe you missed that. But you are NOT screwed from Anima/Magus Sisters.

Yes, I know of a couple of AP tricks, but they involve quite a bit of set-up and considering this is your first playthrough and where you are at in the game, I don't think you can pull off any of the tricks. Just train for now. Use a Double AP weapon if you have.

Where can I get such items?
Any confirmed verdict on using Holy on Yunalesca?
And what's you're favorite boss strategy?

Well, I tend to favor Wakka, Auron, and Lulu, but I try to keep them going even. At the point where I'm at in my game (recently restarted) the only possible use for Yuna is to just pull out an Aeon every once in a while to massacre the enemy and give Yuna all the xp.

Holy is what helped me beat Yunalesca. 9,999 damage each hit. I remember cheering and dancing SOO loud when it was Yuna's turn on the 3rd form and Yunalesca had 9,000 HP left. BAM! I holied her, and I danced like a madwoman.

The strongest characters I have are Auron, Rikku and Tidus. Khimari is still soooo weak. (I don't really like him.) But I love Rikku, so I just had to level her up. She's almost as strong as my Auron. :P

I didn't need Holy for Yunalesca...I just made Yuna Zombieproof and made sure at least one person had zombie at all times so mega death wouldn't work.

Blasting Yunalesca with overdrives, especially the Aeon's, works wonders as well.

My favorite boss strategy is to haste my people, make sure everyone gets experience...and then just blast the boss away with my strongest characters.

Ultimate weapons can't be obtained until you beat Yunalesca though, I think...Or at least, I never bothered to get them until after Yunalesca.

...as long as you can train a Chocobo in the Calm Lands, you can get ultimate weapons, or at least a few. The only one i've gained so far, though, is Caladbolg, or whateverthehellitscalled.
Holy does 9999 damage to Yunalesca?! Hell! I hafta get it!
(cackles insanely)
As long as I can dispel the Regens she cast on us, but reflected back to herself, I can beat her second form. I'll get Tidus to haste himself, Yuna and Auron. I'd slow Yunalesca, but she's immune to everything - otherwise the first round would be funny as hell. Heehee. I basically attack after a few cheers, heal up after a few attacks, then cast Holy and batter her with Auron and Tidus. Yay!
