Adobe Illustrator Question: How do you erase lines?

Fri Nov 12, 2004 3:44 am

I know since its a vector program, you can't really just "erase" the lines like you can on Adobe Photoshop.

>_>; Anyone know how to erase the lines (lets say if I make an error) other than me transporting the entire file to Photoshop, erasing the lines there, saving it as a .psp, and transferring it back?

You can use the subselect tool (the open arrow) to select portions of the vector lines that you have draw. If you click on the line it will show little blocks at each of the points of the line. If you click on a block it will turn a solid color and can be erased by hitting the delete or backspace keys. Best I can help with. Its been a long time since I've used Illustrator. You can also add point to the lines by using the pen tool with the plus arrow on it. That can help define smaller portions of a line that ou want to erase if you don't want to erase the whole thing.

Yeah, what Shinigami said, that's a way to erase parts of lines. You can also select one of those little boxes and use the arrow keys to move it, making it shorter/longer. :)

Also, your signature is too big, the limit here is 100 height and 400 width. Cute though.

XD; Thanks for pointing that out *wasn't too sure what the limit is since its been a while since I browsed the ppt forums*

o_o ah.. okay, thanks! I guess I'll have to do the knife-to-cut and select line option still then.
