(Wow, this thread used to be so alive...)
loser1921: I really like your background- there's so many subtle things going on in there. However, the person you have in there doesn't seem to match very well- it's black and white, but your scheme is grey. The sig text is cool- "broken" is written in a broken font, but perhaps you could carry that broken element to more parts of your set, like the border? It might also fill up more of the sig- I see that it's a little empty. Same things go for the av, although "loser" could be done in a more legible font.
LAQ: Excellent work in the LJ icons. However, Twizzler's seems a bit too busy, in that your tilted square is set at a mode such that the griffin (is that what it is?) is discoloured- you could tone it down a notch. If you feel that the text is awkward (although I find it fine), you can tilt it in the way you tilted "Yesh" in the second one (which I find pretty much nothing wrong with), just in the opposite direction.
For Trinity's set, I understand the mood you're trying to set, but the brightness in some areas needs to be brought up- mainly the subtext. "Trinity" in the av is a little awkward; the blue and the red are a strange mix and they end up sticking out a little. The text effect in the sig, however, looks great. Also, I don't see the transparency- but it might just be the fact that IE hates PNG files.

Ratings on this set would be much appreciated. :) Most elements are mainly drawn (other than certain texts- it's pretty obvious). And yes, I realise that my spiral looks like a trachea in the av, thanks to a pointer from Marissa. :P
