Hi everybody.

I've recently picked up neopets again, and I've noticed that the restock times for the magic shop seem to have changed. Instead of occurring within 1-10 seconds of the minute, the magic shop seems to be restocking well within the 30 second mark, or even at 45 seconds. My question is does anybody know whether restock times are TRULY random now? (meaning occuring at anytime within any minute, hour, or second) or is it just a trick my mind is playing on me? Also, do shops not restock together anymore? (such as every shop restocking in the same minute). Thanks in advance!

The shops do this every once in a while, something goes weird and the shops stock randomly, sometimes not all at once, but two or three items at a time. It'll fix itself soon enough.

Ahhh. So this is abnormal behavior? Or is it just a ploy by TNT to frustrate us out of our right minds?

A few months ago Neopets changed the restocking system.

You remember the old system, where shops restocked in order, and all shops were eligible to restock, beginning with the food shop at zero seconds after the minute.

Now, however, restocking is totally random. Any shop can restock at any second, and one shop does not have to stock for the others to restock. There is no connection between restocking times and shop numbers, nor is there any connection between shops restocking or not restocking.

Every shop still has the same odds of restocking - approximately eight restocks per hour.

Neopets did this to thwart autobuyers, since they depended on timing to work. I'm sure there are still some working autobuyers out there, but the odds are now back in favor for the everyday user rather than cheating chicken-necked jerks.

It will be somewhat of a challenge to have to refresh the magic shop throughout the minute, but I'll endure somehow.

Just do what I do, and have six or seven different shops open in different firefox tabs and restock them all (click on tab, refresh, NOT refresh all tabs) every couple of minutes.
