Sponser games.. everywhere?

Wed May 18, 2005 10:23 pm

Is it just me or are sponser games everywhere in the Action section? I see the old Lilo And Stitch game, Japanese/Chinese games and all sorts of stuff.. in total I counted 27. So, yeah.. is it just me?

I just noticed 2 new sponser games in the puzzle section, too...

wow, tnt is getting sponser happy...

I think there are actually 40 in the action section alone, counting the ones you need to have a certain ISP to use...

I don't mind very much either, it just surprised me to see like 29 games added in like a second. :p

i'd rather sponser games than more ads. plus, sponser games tend to pay out better.

Ditto. If more games means less ads, the bring on the games!

I was always surprised that they didn't add the games there.

Personally, if I was paying Neopets to advertise for me and they only had a little blurb once on the new features page, I'd be pretty darn tootin mad. Before, you couldn't find the sponsor games without a good deal of effort. I'm surprised it took them this long.

Anyone besides me notice how most, if not all, of the ones they added are in Japanese? o_O

Me thinks that this is a language glitch... And I think a few are definately out dated and should have been removed awhile ago...

They're everywhere, everywhere I tell you.
I haven't been to the games in a while, but now that I'm checking it does look like there are a lot of sponsor games. Ah well, I wouldn't mind if they added 50 more of them as long as it made less ads and no pop-ups for us.

EDIT: Apparently now the language bug is fixed and all my games are in English again. Hmmmm...

Agreed. Also I would insist that my companies game gave out the maximum 1,000 np's. With most of these sponsor games the average payout that most players can get from them is 300 - 350 np's.

So it's usually not worth the effort to play them. Especially since alot of them are very time consuming and difficult to play. Difficult, not in a challenging way, but in a tedious, irritating way.

I think like most people I play new sponsor games one time to see what they are like and then never play them again.

But if we could get the maximum 1,000np's from them we would all be playing them everyday and developing strong cravings for Kelloggs products no doubt.

CEO's of big companies or big honchos in advertising departments aren't that smart! *hides from their huge radioactive guns*. But its a good point, they probably should make more NP giving out (and make more things that eat neopoints to lessen inflation!)

Indeed. If it meant getting rid of the bottom ads (I don't mind the top bar ads quite as much as perhaps I should) then I say make half the games sponsor games.

I don't think that making them worth 1000 neopoints is a good idea, because many of them are actually very easy. All of those multiple-choice trivia games, for example.

Now, one thing that would make more people play sponsor games is adding a trophy feature. Why not create a separate high score list (instead of http://www.neopets.com/gamescores.phtml?game_id=400, have it be sponsorgamescores.phtml?game_id=whatever), and then create one single trophy for all sponsor games. That way, like with mystery pic, you could be "First place in sponsor games! (x4)." People play games for trophies.

So without increasing payout, you still get an increase in plays for each game, which means neopets can charge game sponsors more...which means less reliability on ad generators.
