Events on Neopets Index Page

I'm sure most of you have noticed when you look at the Neopets index page you don't see if you have a neomail, recieved an item, or have been warned by TNT. This might not be much of a problem but I have an idea to solve this.

Sorry that the fon't isn't exact, I tried the best I could.

I was thinking they could put events in the top (next to our SN, NP count, active pet) and under the banner ad. The area shows up on all (to my understanding) pages that have the full layout.

You know how they say "No idea is dumb"? That's what I had in mind when I made this topic Does anyone have any comments or something?

I think how they do it now is fine. I like the little images and hope that they don't change them.

I like the idea, I don't like having to click explore just to find out if my someone's offered on my trades yet etc...
Though my biggest problem with the event icons they added whenever-ago don't say what happened... like, if you get a present icon, your first instinct is to click it, and if you do, you have no way of finding out who sent it, not even with the back button because the event is deleted as soon as it's clicked!

what you made is like what they had before. they could always just use the old system again, i liked it way better

I really love the icons, and really hope they won't take them away.

I do really love the icons and boldness of the 'something's happened' But it used to always come at the most unopportune times such as playing solitaire or something where the page needs to physically refresh to make the game work. That got annoying before I changed resolution and didn't take it for granted that the cards were going to be in the exact same space.

Anyway, I wonder if they could have a small icon appear to draw attention to the event, something to catch the users eye. I think it would work really really well.

I like the icons, but my biggest annoyance is when I'm given an item and I click and then I can't find out who gave it to me. If there was a way to keep the icon but also have a way to figure out who gave you the item, I'd love it.

My problem is, I totally forget that they show up with symbols now. I don't notice for a while that I have something, and that can be a little annoying. It's not life threating... I just wish they were a little more, obvious.

From a layout perspective, it makes the topbar a little too busy (they balanced that perfectly with what's up there currently.) From a personal perspective, I don't like seeing text notices (I really disliked the old system because it was distracting) I like the icon system as it is, although vague it's easy for me to let me know if I have a new event (and if I wanted more information, I can just look at the page with all the details.)

I rather much have an option between text alerts and icons instead of being forced into it.

I really like the icons but I think if they combined them with your idea, it would be better. Like:
