Loans?

Do you think loans on neopets, distrubited by the bank, would ever work? Would they be helpful? Etc. A discussion about the pros and cons and more about loans on Neopets. I personally would like to have one to get a nice paint brush

I don't think loans would ever work, people would simply take the loan and never pay it back, they'd either keep everything in items or they'd send all the money to one main account. I really don't know how else it could be done.

I was thinking maybe you could be banned from purchasing anything if you stopped paying back your loans...or some punishment that would ge thte message across.

But if people are taking the loan in order to buy something large (a paintbrush for example) then I'd have thought that all the neopoints would be spent all at once which means there is no need to keep buying. It might stop those taking the loan for nick-nacks but those borrowing for larger things well that's another story.

only way it would work would be a l'lay awya' plan where youg et an item when you finish paying for it in installments. Sounds like people could change thier minds and when they lose interest then lose the money they had been paying on said item. Kinda silly.

It's a nice idea, but people would probably find a way to get around repaying it.
Buy the item on a decoy account in some internet cafe, tranfer it to their main account through trades, freeze the decoy or just leave it to be frozen on its own, and use the purchased item on their main account at home.
No IP tracking could prove anything.

I think they used to have loans, but they were abused so they got rid of them, or so I heard.

I dont think loans will ever work...som1 can easily take the loan and then never pay it back or make a dummie account for that purpose then transfer it to their original account..TNT will never be able to keep record or all transfers..people will get ripped off..colateral might work but i highly doubt it.

Loans... Nah won't work.. Sorry to burst your bubble but.. unless there is something to "hold" onto to that person who took the money.. the money and person will just run away.. Not a very good move.. o.O

They could make the item like the starter paint brushes, where it is not possible to trade or sell the items in question. Somehow...Someway

I think installment plans might be a better version of this, where you don't get the item until you finish paying into the account, but what would you buy with this? Paintbrushes? They're easy enough to get ahold of as it is. Same with most battledome eq, and what all.
Loans simply won't work because too many people will default on them, quit playing, or transfer the item and close their accounts.

What would the point in installments be? All you'd be doing is the same exact thing as saving up for it yourself.
