It better to sell the booster packs, like most google bag type items. Usually you're not going to get a good resell on the cards that appear with it.

Related question: Does the rarity of the booster pack (lupe over acara, say) affect the potential rarity of the cards you'll get out of it?

All the common booster packs, like Lupe and Acara, just give out common cards, but the rarer ones like Count Von Roo and Kauvara can and often do give out Gold cards. After the Count Von Roo packs were in the Halloween Goodie Bags, opening them could give you a very nice profit.

How does one get the rarer booster packs? The Kauvara, Buzz, etc. are all R105+. Are they giveaways?

Uhh...I'm guessing goodie bags, like the Count Von Roo ones. I'll check on that though.
