There's a rubbish dump in meridell, but you can't get a faerie slingshot there AFAIK.

It's a very long running joke in the Battledome Chat, that there's a Hidden Junkyard. Lots of people have made screenshots of it. But nope, doesn't exist.

The "picture" of the junkyard on the screenie is so bad, that in itself would have been what would have screamed doctored screen-shot to me. It just looks so... tacky and jagged.

I do remember that people were getting really good BD items from the Meridell Rubbish Dump--but only on the first day or so that it was open. I haven't heard of anyone getting anything good from there since then--and my brain is foggy as to how long that dump has been open, but it has been a long, long time.
