At what level....

Sat Sep 23, 2006 5:08 pm

Does the lab ray stop altering your pets level? I think it's 50, but I'm not sure. Any help is appreciated :)

Wow I didn't know there was one - that certainly is useful :o

Nope its not 50, I lost level when my level was 76

I think if your level is high, there is less chance that the ray will reduce your level straight to 1 but you can still loose levels

Yeah, there's some debate on when exactly you are immune from being zapped all the way down to one, but you are never immune from the usual 1-3 level dropping. I've heard claims that someone's pet has gone from 20 to 1 in one zap, but those are few and far between and I've haven't seen proof of anything higher than 10 or so. In five years of labbing, I've never gotten a "and she goes down to level one" zap over level 3.

It will always alter your level, but you will stop getting the 'And ___ goes down to level 1!!!' after level 7 or so, I think. (or maybe it's 5)

The lab ray only say " ... to level 1" when your level is too low to say " ..down X amount of levels"

The lab ray will always alter your pet's level amount as long as you are using it on that specific pet.

Alright, thanks for the help everyone.

This isn't actualy true.

There is a lose or gain 1-4 levels event
And an event that sends the pet in question down to level one even if that is outside the 1-4 range.

The down to level one event does stop occuring once your pet reaches a certain level (I'm not sure which somewhere between 20 and 50).
However the gaining or losing a small number of levels event will always be an option and there is the possiblity that your pet will lose enough levels that it will again be eligilbe for the down to lvl 1 event.

People keep saying that, but in the past six years no one's ever been able to prove it to me. Has anyone here personally had it happen, and if so, did you keep lab logs/take a screenshot?

Been able to prove that there are two events or been able to prove that it stops?

I don't think that one can prove that it stops, as oppsed to proving it just becomes rare. It's impossibly to prove that something can never happen just because it never has in the past.

I have personaly had "goes down to lvl 1" as an event with lab pets when they were in the 10-15, although never with my main pet who I started labbing as a much higher level pet. I additionaly have never seen a so-and so loses x of any stat that was more than 4 other than the "goes down to lvl 1" event.

I don't personaly record my labbing or take screenshots.
However here is a lab ray log as an example
http://www.nothingbutneopets.com/001523.php
as you can see the pet is quickly sent down to lvl 1 in the beginning but the message given is "loses two levels" not "goes down to lvl 1". I've personaly also had my lvl 1 pet both "go down x levels" and be reduced to lvl 1.

Hehe, I wouldn't ask someone to prove something can't happen. I got annoyed when someone wanted me to do that ("prove the lab doesn't take away hit points") at IDB. Pretty hard to take a screenie of the lab not doing something. :P

I'm in the camp who believes "...and he goes down to level 1!" only happens when the pet is at, say, level 2, and the lab wants to take away two levels. Obviously that can't happen, as that would put the pet at 0, so they get the alternate message instead. I'm willing to believe that level can be reduced to 1 from 10 or 15... if someone can show me screenshots, or even lab logs with it happening. I haven't ever seen those, though.

I have had the lab ray for 3 years on a main account and a 1 1/2 on a side as well (total of 4 1/2 years combined) and I have not seen a level drop to level 1 past level 15. Either I am incredibly lucky, the event is very rare, or it does not happen. I say 15 to be conservative because I do not recall specifics of when I started zapping in relation to level on my very first lab rat of which I have had more than 17.

My lab pet dropped down to level 1 when he was about a level 20, I think. It happened a few months back, so can't remember for sure what level he was at. I was pretty peeved at the time.

Ditto on that. My pet was in his low twenties when he got zapped down to one. Happened to my other lab rat too, but she was only less than 10 at the time.
