Idea about morphing potions....

Wed Oct 18, 2006 8:59 pm

You know what they should do? They should make some morphing potions that don't have a color label on them.... for people who spent LOTS of neopoints painting their pets cool colors, and want to change the specie, but not the neopet!

Of course, all luxuries on neopets cost extra nps.... so to even out the economy they might cost 40% more than a regular morphing potion..... but for people who spend millions on there pet's color, it would be worth it since they wouldnt have to paint it AGAIN after they spent all the nps changing the specie!

Anybody like that idea? I would love to have a basic "Jetsam Morphing Potion" or "JubJub Morphing Potion."

It's a nice idea, but what if you have, say, an Alien Aisha and want to turn it into a Gelert? There's no Alien Gelert, so it wouldn't work.

Other than theonlysaneone's objection, I think it would be excellent. I suppose that you could have it turn a random color if that color wasn't available in the species you're morphing to.

I think I'd buy one at some point. You should send this suggestion in to TNT!

I suggested this to them a few years ago and never got a response. I always enjoyed the idea of it, but I don't know if it'll ever happen.

What ever happened to petpet morhping potions?

I believe there was an editorial about this and why they wouldn't do it a little while ago....

I believe they never were released due to the problems that would have occured with the PPL (which they more or less "corrected" with the zapped status when using the Petpet Lab Ray) , but I'm assuming there would have still been problems with them even if they were released.

Found it! Issue 204 editorial:
Would it be possible to have morphing potions that only change the species of your pet, and not the color? For example a "Chia Morphing Potion" would simply change your pet into a Chia but not change its current color. - Mistystar555
We will have to think about that one, as it could cause problems. Not every Neopet is paintable in every colour so what would happen if you used a potion and that colour didn't exist? This is possible, it just needs a lot of thought to make it work.

another question form Issue 216:
When you use a morphing potion to change a species, and the pet you use it on is painted, does it stay painted, but just as its new species or does it go plain? If not is there any chance of you making it like that? Thanking you muchly if you do. ~cassellalangtle
It becomes whatever colour the morphing potion is. So, if you have, say, an Island Cybunny, and use a Red Draik morphing potion on it, it will become a Red Draik. Sorry, but we don't have any intention of altering how it works. :)

Looks like this change just isn't going to happen. At least, not anytime soon.

That shouldn't matter at all....

What happens if you have a Lutari and a Royal Paint Brush?

Nothing. You can't use it. The lutari doesnt come in royal.

So what happens if you have a royal cybunny and a Lutari Morphing Potion?

Nothing. You can't use it. The lutari doesnt come in royal....

(Just pointing out the fact that there really isnt any problem involved.... a neopet just wouldnt be able to the the potion.)

They had an editorial question about this too..... they put the ex on that project.... they figured petpet morphing potions were too vast and just wouldnt work like neopet morphing potions did, so they cut that idea, but made the petpet lab ray instead.

Well, granted there is a certain amount of randomness involved, but the Mysterious Swirly Potion will change your painted pet into an LE pet with the same colour. If that colour isn't available, it turned into a basic colour in that LE species.

Umm. I may sound like a newbie when saying this but, what's LE?

I think it's a good idea, but having it also be a morphing potion could be confusing. I would think it could simply be another type of item or even maybe something that is quest based, like the rainbow pool, but for species (i'd prefer the item better myself, but it's an idea)

I like Rage's idea of a quest. That'd be simple, not too common, and something to hope for.

Maybe there could be a Lab Ray result that changed species, but not color. If the color wasn't available in the new species, it would just change to a basic color and look like the species/color change we have now.
