Oh my.. please come here.. I am so worried right now...

Wed Nov 01, 2006 9:24 pm

I know these kind of boards may have been posted before but I don't know what to do.

I have been playing Neopets for over 5 years now and have throughly enjoyed in. At about 12 Noon (NST), I posted a board in the Guilds Message Board asking if anyone wanted to create a guild on Midnight of January 1st. Inside I had placed the word "contest", however it was not meant in the terms Neopets defines. I was meaning it in the competition definition. Such as having a Art Contest, but not having any prizes. Just doing things for fun.

I then recieved a message saying I was suspended on my account for 24 hours. This has got me worrying so much. Now my account (and reputation) is dirtied up because of a misinterpretation of words. I'm not sure what to do because I do not feel I was suspended for the right reasons.

Now what makes this even worse is, after I finish college I plan to move down to Glendale, California and get hired at The Neopets Headquarters. If they check my account and they see that, chances are I will not get a job. Getting a job there has been my life goal ever since I joined Neopets. I am making room in my life, and college schedule to work there.

I am so worried.. what should I do guys? :(

I'd e-mail someone who works at Neo, and explain this to them. :)

Exactly what email would I send that to? I have to be logged out before I can go to the Contact Us page, and most of the emails are for reporting errors or information about being frozen. But I haven't been frozen, just suspended.

Yoshi edit: No backseat modding either.

If it is regarding employment, there is an email for job inquiries:
mailto:employment@neopets.com

I would suggest asking there if your actions on Neopets have any bearing on hiring situations.

That's why I never go to neoboards. I once got frozen from trying to type S-p-e-r-m Whale and I got frozen for typing the "sexual" word, s-p-e-r-m. The neo word-censor is horrible, because it only censors the word itself, not the entire post or phrase. Urgh.

First off, welcome to PPT :)

What are you going to try for at Neopets job wise? Like being a programmer or an artist? Just curious. I'd love to work there as a programmer after I'm done with college and after some experiance, but I live outside of California. No moving for me.

Now with your problem. You can try to email someone and explain the situation as you did here. If you feel you were suspended for the wrong reason though, by the time they get around to seeing your email and respond with some sort of non-automatic response, your suspension will be up.

What I suggest, is once you can get back into your account, try neomailing a staff member. Snarkie, to me, seems very helpful. Maybe she'd be able to tell you if account history would affect employment. Until then, go study lol. As a college student myself, I can never study enough.

Good luck :)

Also, Da_bouncer666, yes there's a no double posting rule, but there's also a no backseat modding rule. Neoassistance has only posted three times here, and they're all in this topic. I think every new member is entitle to one whoops. We all were one once afterall =)

Don't stress, I'm sure TNT will understand completely. I doubt it would impact on your job chances - everyone makes mistakes... and in this case it wasn't even really a mistake, just a misunderstanding (and a small one at that). If you get an interview and feel the need to explain it, I think they'd even look upon you favourably for being concerned about it :)

Good luck with the job! Working at Neopets is one of my dream jobs too. Pity I live in Australia... I still think about the possibility of moving over, now and again, but it seems a bit of a long shot (for me). Maybe one day :)

Well Thank you very much for the welcoming!

Well I am interested in perhaps taking a job in the Customer Service Department. I work very well with people and I enjoy it. I have also thought about Moderating. Programming would be great except that I'm not sure if I could go through so many years of school, waiting all that time, and hoping that I got a job there.

Also I have no idea who to send the email to. Can you actually Neomail Staff Members? I thought they blocked Neomails? Do you think Snarkie would respond?

Oh and I am sorry about the Double Posting.

But don't you think that they naturally would be very cautious about that because they get alot of people claiming they were innocent to get out of things. They won't think I'm just making a cover up story?

Don't mail snarkie about it, she's a programmer. If you are in fact going to personally neomail a staff member, neomail a moderator, not a programmer.

Oh I was not talking about Neomailing Snarkie about clearing the suspension, just Neomailing her to see if having a suspension on your account will lessen my chances of getting a job there.

I would like to however Neomail and Moderator too to ask for some advice. Does anyone know any?

I suggested Snarkie because she works at Neopets. I thought she might know if having a warning or suspension would do anything when trying to get hired at Neopets. I'm guessing it won't, but *shrug* yea, who knows lol.

Anywho, some staff members who have staff accounts (with the mod or programmer tag at the bottom of their lookup) block neomails and some don't.

Ok I sent her a Neomail with the same note I posted here (copied & pasted) and then asked if she thought a 24 hour suspension/warnings would affect me getting a job with them.

Do you guys think she will respond?

I've never tried to contact a specific staff member before - definitely not one who's fairly well known - but in my (admittedly limited) experience with contacting staff, it'll take a while to get a response. They stay pretty busy, y'know. :) So don't expect to hear anything right away, but don't be too pessimistic either.

In the meantime - relax. People make mistakes, it ain't the end of the world. I'm sure that, assuming you worded your inquiry politely, they'll be understanding. Or at least, be just as polite in their reply, whatever it may be.

Well I hope everything works out. I got a response from Snarkie saying it should be no big deal, and I really hope she is right.
