It was penned in 1606 as a sermon to commemorate the event of Guy Fawkes (and conspirators) trying to blow up the House of Parliment (London) . All were tried and found guilty of treason.

It was taught as a lesson that treason will never be forgotten.

Every year, Britain commemorates 'Guy Fawkes' night by having fireworks and bonfires. :)

To me it looks like the heads of those little things in Princess Mononoke, only dyed green. 0_o (Pic)
