Been away for a while, very specific question

Hi guys, this may seem a little silly, but I still have the Spear of Infinite Wisdom (from the Lost Desert Plot) equipped to my pet. If I unequip it, will it disappear? I have searched the forums.

(Speaking of searching the forums, is there a way to search thread titles only in phpBB forums? I've yet to discover how)

Assuming that it won't disappear, what's its use? They're seemingly untradeable.

It seems to have been used just for a boss in a plot, it has no purpose now.

It is annoying isn't it? The only things to do with those weapons is gallery or sdb them.
