Hatching Draik gender question

Tue Nov 28, 2006 10:06 pm

Well, I tried to post this in the help section but didn't get many responses (and none that actually answered the question). So I'm going to repost it here and hopefully get the info that I need. =/

I am considering getting a draik. An egg is cheaper than a potion. I want a male draik to match the name I have chosen.

My question: If I hatch a draik egg will I get to choose the gender? Or will it be random like it is for when a krawk petpet becomes a krawk pet?

Please only answer if you are certain, because the gender is kinda important for the name I have chosen. If it's random, I'd rather use a potion. But an egg is cheaper.

I'm afraid that you cannot choose the gender of the Draik. It's random, unfortunantly.

It's the for the same reason that I intend to (try and) get a potion.

If you get the wrong gender, you can always try fighting the Lab Ray Scientist in the battledome (one of his attacks switches your pet's gender). You need access to the Lab Ray before the scientist becomes a battledome challenger, however.

Isn't there some kind of garm or manteau that changes a pet's gender in the battledome, also?.

you can change gender using a Strange Potion. If the Strange Potion and Draik Egg together cost more than a Draik Morphing Potion, then you should go with the MP. Otherwise, go with the egg.

Figures, that it'd be random.

I had forgotten the lab ray scientist though. But won't that also have the potential to change species? Or is it only gender?

I was going to go with an egg, but that was because the last time I checked eggs were about 2 mil and potions 3 mil. Now they are about the same price, 3.5-3.8 mil. So I guess potion is the way to go.

Only gender in the Battledome. The ray changes gender, color, and species as well as stats.

Yes, if you just fight the lab scientist (not actually zap the pet in the lab - don't do that to your draik, that's crazy!) he'll change your gender every so often. XP So then you don't have to worry.

I guarantee you the strange potion and egg will cost WAY more than a transmogrification or morphing potion.

The last time I looked at the price it was several million NP.

I can't get the lab scientist as a challenger no matter how much I try, it's irritating because I need to change the gender of a couple of my pets.

Ouch, are you refreshing at the right page? I got him within 10 minutes. @.@

Do you want your Draik to be male or female? Because, if you want a female Draik, you can use a Cape of the Sun in the battledome and it will turn a male pet female. You need to have 11 intelligence for it to work. It's cheaper than a Strange Potion and won't be as bad for your bd record as trying to battle the Lab Ray Scientist to change your pet's gender.

edit: Whoops, just noticed you wanted a male Draik. Never mind! :)

She probably is. It took me two weeks to get him, and I consider myself one of the lucky ones.

I should throw out that even after you get the lab scientist as a challenger, gender change is not a guaruntee. Before I bought myself a Cape, my plan was to go in, get changed on the first zap, then withdraw from the fight and not hurt my BD score.

...Yeah, that didn't work out too well. After a week or so, he started hitting me with weapons that dealt 100+ damage in a single hit, and I ended up dragging my battle pet out of the BD without a gender change more often than not. He CAN change you, but not every time, and there's a good possibility that he'll defeat you before he does.

EDIT: But since you're looking for a male, this really is your best/cheapest option.

If you posted something once, do not post it in another section since it's very frowned upon around here.

It was in the right section the first time you posted as well.
