Neopets Policy On Covering Lookup/Petpage Images

Thu Dec 14, 2006 6:20 pm

I know TNT covered this in the Editorial a few weeks ago, but that was shield-exclusive, and I can't find anything about the images I want to cover up.

Anyway, a few weeks ago, TNT said this about shields:

You can cover up your shields with original art, but you cannot cover them with another Neopets shield or anything that specifies a number of months or years that is untrue.

What I got out of it was, "Do what you want, so long as you're not blatantly lying to the other users."

My question is: would it be against site policy to draw a new circle pose image for my pet(s) and use it to mask the official image if the drawing reflected the species and color my pet actually was? The last thing I want to do is fool people into thinking I own a draik when it's actually a zafara, but some of my pets have custom "markings" that I'd like their pet pages to reflect.

Also, where can I find answers to silly questions like this about custom ___ page rules? I thought it might be in the site's Terms and Conditions page, but I wasn't able to pull anything up from it.

From my understanding, as long as it really represents your pet and you're not lying about it, it doesn't matter. But I would wait on someone else to confirm that. I don't know for sure. That's what I gathered from the editorial you're referring to. As for where to go for such answers, I couldn't find it in the FAQ, so I don't know that either. Sorry if this isn't much help.

Send TNT a neomail, it's the only way you'll know for sure. Might take a while before they reply, of course...

I do believe an earlier editorial said that it was fine as long as it is not lying/misleading. Sadly, I cannot seem to find that issue.

That's not a huge concern. I haven't even drawn the pictures yet; I was asking now so I could figure out if I should bother or not. :P

But I will neomail TNT about it. Thanks, everyone. :)

I'm positive I read in the editorial that you could. I'd do it, because all my pets have custom looks, but sadly, I can't draw. XD

Also, as far as I know, there isn't a way to make it work right in Firefox, although you can make custom shields work in Firefox.

...Darn it. I haven't touched IE since I started using Firefox.

Yeah, I don't touch IE either. I wish the pet image cover up worked on FF, but the image always ends up behind the official image. If there is a way to make it work, I haven't heard it. The shield works by using style.

I just have little customized makables of my pets below in the regular edited part of their lookup. Not as impressive maybe, but it works. XD
