Bringing neopets geekery to a whole new level!

Thu Jan 04, 2007 1:30 pm

I just got a call from my baby sister, she lives with my parents in Canada, I live in the Uk with my husband, there's 12 years between us. (she's 10, I'm 22) she called to tell me what she got for christmas this year!

She starts listing all her presents, and like a good big sister I sit on the other end of the phone "oooh"ing and "ahhhh"ing half heartedly, until she says "and I got the Neopets videogame!! It's really cool so I made a neopets account!"

Now, I don't know whats worse, the fact that I'm jealous of a pressie my eight year old sister got for christmas (which to be honest, is pretty bad!), or that I was actually miffed at her for not using my referral code (which she probably doesn't even know I have anyway!!)

I officially bring neopets geekery to a whole new level.

Make me feel better, tell me tales of your neopets geekery!

I actually thought I was safe on neopets. I didnt so much mind my mate being on, considering he doesn't use the site nearly as much as I do.

I ended up going to my aunts for 2 weeks, {causing me to miss the end of the ending of the Gilly Plot} Anyway, the last two days I was there, my cousin {whos 20 I'm 21} wants an account for all the sites I visit {Elftown, Neopets and Myspace which I only get on if I'm that bored} So being the nice cousin that I am, I help him sign up...

I spent the last 2 days I was there, helping him with everything. Starting up shop, creating a pet {which I had to name} joining a guild, and all the other stuff....

I kept telling him he was lucky, cause when I joined I didnt have anyone to show me the ropes.

lol it's ok, i once turned down going out with my boyfriend because i was busy with the TOW plot.... my friend walked in and asked why i wasn't with him, and when i told her why, she just stared at me for a second, then smacked me on the back of the head and walked out. (I'm 19 btw :P)

Neopets geek story...sheesh...there are so many...I can't pick just one. Just trust me, you're not alone in your geekiness. :P

Well, this one is sort of embarassing. I started playing in December 2002. My daughter and husband had been playing for about a month or so and, one day, they decided to create an account for me and forced me to sit at the computer and play. I fell in love with the game, especially the Advent Calendar. At the time, my husband and daughter were just as addicted to the game as I was. Here comes the embarassing part: That Christmas when we all got up, instead of running to open real live presents under the tree, we each ran to our computers to see what virtual presents we had gotten from each other. Sad, huh? *raises hand and states, "hi, my name is Morningstar and I am addicted to Neopets"* Sure is a fun addiction, though. :P

I also check the forums. I spend most of my time on Neopets and the forums...that is ... If I'm not doing some thing else.

I drove all the way to Watertown, NY looking for Neopets merchandise. It's about two or three hours from me, plus, I had to cross the border. And of course, when I get there, what they had was completely disapointing, so I ended up going back home empty handed. Arg!

It's kind of embarrassing, but Neopets was one of the reasons I used to fight with my boyfriend. He'd call me and if I told him I was in front of the computer he'd say "Don't tell me, you're still playing that stupid game of yours," and then I'd call him stupid

Yeah...I'm playing if I'm not doing homework or being in class (sometimes even during...lol), out with my fiance, out with friends, or out with family. :)

You know, when girls talk about it it doesn't sound nearly as geeky as when guys do geek-talk :P

Girls being geeky: cool, she's into gaming too!
Guys being geeky: image of Urkel popping up in my mind..

Sadly, checking Neopets and the PPT forum is what I do, too, first thing in the morning

Neopets is my first-thing-in-the-morning activity too, but most of my Neopets geek points come at work (I'm a cashier at Wal-Mart right now).

Two points:

-- I've told customers their total in NP before (That'll be 438 NP, please.).
-- One time I did something that was nice to do but not part of my job and wondered out loud if I'd get an avatar for it, before realizing that "hey, wait, this is real life..."

I did something similar. While at work, my former boss mentioned that he needed to contact someone. And so I stupidly blurted out "Should I send a neomail?" But luckily, I caught that neomail just as it was rolling off my tongue and it ended up being KNEE-mail. He looked at me like I was nuts. Haha. He never did find out that I played the game. Thank God, or he really would have thought I was nuts. :)

I remeber going to buy a neopets handheld game thing from Kmart , and the cashier that i but it from played neopets too . We got chatting and talked about the current plot at the time .
The topic of neopoints came up and I said i had about 600k and she laughed and said she had over 3 mil in items and neopoints and i was like "woah" :o She gave me tips ( like investing in the stockmarket) and she really helped get where I am today :)
