Cape of the sun changes pet's gender?

I just saw a post saying cape of the sun would change your pet's gender if it is male to female if you use it in the battledome and if your pet is sort of intelligent, like more than 6 books read. At about 32,000 or so for the cape, last time I checked, this might be expensive to verify, but if someone wants to try, let me know if it really did work. I don't want to change my pet's gender, but if anyone has a male and wants a female, it might be worth it to try. Maybe you can resale the cape if it didn't work. Does anyone know for sure if it doesn or want to verify this?
I think neopets might be making a few more kind of secret ways to change your pet, like the turnip tonics, so maybe this is true.

I'm testing it right now as I just found one for under 10K. My uni has been wanting to return to female for over a year now!

It's true, Smudge. I've bought one and used it before, and it does changes your pet's gender to female, but only if the pet has 11 intelligence. I've read as few as two books to a pet and had it be enough.

Also, I think you have to actually select it and "use" it sometime during battle.

It only changes the pet's gender from male to female, and I've been told it only works if your pet's intelligence is "clever" or higher. I used it on Capi all the time when I was zapping her, so I can verify it works.

EDIT: Rakumel beat me to it, but yes, you have to actually use it in battle for the gender change to occur.

That is really nice then. So we have turnip tonics and cape of the sun. Does anyone know about any more things that change your pets?

I bought a few of the turnip tonics the other day. They seemed to skyrocket but then the price went back down. I made a bit of money though.

The cape of the sun's gender bender ways has been posted on the IDB for a looooooong time now, so I rather doubt it's going to suddenly inflate any great deal.

I use this trick all the time... I have a lab pet that I want to keep female, so a quick BD fight and one use of the cape is all it takes when the lab switches her to male. It's neat.

Also, like Selelight said, these capes have been out for ages and as far as I'm aware, a lot of people already know what they do, so I wouldn't expect prices to shoot way up.

Wait..it works the other way as well? Male to female and female to male? Or just female to male?

Alas, it only works male to female. (I always want to go the opposite way.)

It turns a male pet female. It doesn't work the other way 'round.
