Neopia: Lacking or no?

Yeah, TNT really needs to get on the world sections with new features.

Neopia: Lacking or no?

Sun Feb 04, 2007 9:51 pm

Do you think the individual worlds inside of Neopia (ie: Roo Island, Haunted Woods, Meridell, etc.) are lacking things other than shops? Each world in Neopia has a shop at least, even if there's really not much of anything else there (like Kiko Lake), and some worlds basically only have shops (Shenkuu).

Do you think TNT should update the worlds more often? Or at least update the worlds with less features than the more developed parts of Neopia?

some of the worlds have a large variety of content, such as Meridell, while others don't such as the Lost City of Geraptiku, which only has a shop, a daily, and a colouring page section. They could be expanded upon in the future, as i'm sure they will be, as not having anything to do on a certain map isn't good. they need to be interactive like real worlds, with lots of things to do.

I think that TNT should work on the world maps, but I think that it's not a priority right now. I think they should probably be working first on prizes, making sure items are actually released and working properly, and pets in every color available.

A little bit. I don't think that things should necessarily be expanded to the point where everything's as busy as Terror Mountain or Meridell, but I wouldn't mind a few more games and activities in the smaller worlds.

Shenkuu is actually a pretty good baseline, in my opinion. It's got some fun games, a few good shops, and if the culinary concoctions ever become available it'll be great. I wish Kiko Lake were more along these lines.

*doesn't care* :P

To me, it seems like there is an over-abundance of shops and not enough "fun" things to do among worlds. Especially the newer ones like Shenku and Neovia. I really only go to a few worlds due to lack of interest in what there is to offer on them.

I agree with pinkflamingo - too many shops and not enough fun activities in some of the worlds, or just not anything. I understand the TNT are busy with the site obviously, but surely the worlds would rank quite high up the list?

I agree too, I'd actually forgotten Neovia existed. Shenkuu is a little bare too, and Kreludor is probably one of the biggest wastes of time. There is basically nothing to do there. On the other hand, somewhere like Meridell has too much content, well, a disproportional amount, anyway.

I actually agree that most of the Neopian worlds need new content, especially some of the older ones that have been around for a while, like Kreludor. But to me, the next logical question becomes, well, what kind of content? Is there anything specific you all want to see more of?

If more money sinks need to be added, I really want to see a water park somewhere, like Kiko Lake (or Lutari Island if it ever becomes open to the general public). There'd be pictures of slides and wave pools, maybe even some animations or some very simple games, and at the end it would increase your pet's happiness level or you'd get a junk souvenir to take with you or something. I wasn't around to see Grundo's Gym, but I like the idea of one's pet playing and/or working out somewhere, and over time getting stronger or more agile. Or perhaps it would randomly happen. The tough part would be making it so that codestones and dubloons would deflate, but not so much that they're rendered useless.

I'd also like to see the Neopedia actually housed in a building somewhere. A Neopian Hall of Nifty Things to Know. ("Always ask for a piece of the gross, not the net. The net is fantasy.") And speaking of nifty, I kinda wished that Booktastic Books would be on tape, or better yet, laserdiscs or DVDs (but they would still vanish like the other books once read). That's not really 'new' content, but a (hopefully) interesting enough twist on an existing idea.

And remember how, during the Altador Plot, we got to go into the Archives and saw those flyers for different clubs? Remember how some people came up with all sorts of ideas for those clubs? Like, if your pet joined, say, the herbalism club, they'd learn how to grow their own garden items? I'd love it if there was some way to fairly implement that. Perhaps your pet could make better items the longer it stayed in the club and the more skilled it got, kinda like Fishing skill is now. Maybe there could even be some items that only club members could make. And each world could have a club headquarters, or something.

Might also be cool to have an outdoor theater in Altador, or an opera house in Neovia, that would work much like the concert hall in Tyrannia - pay for a ticket to see a certain play or group of actors, watch the animation, get stuff at the end.

....wow, sorry, that was a lot of rambling. And I didn't really mean to hijack the thread. I guess I spend too much time thinking about stuff like this. :P But that's just some random ideas for content I had; I'm sure most of you have other great ideas. So, again I ask: what kind of content would you like to see?

I don't visit the world map that much, so it doesn't matter much for me. I find that the new worlds also don't have that much to offer besides shops, and seeing as I'm not a restocker, that would leave even less.

I think they were on the right track with the Altador Plot, to introduce a new world with a plot accompanying it, where we have to do all sorts of things inside that world (unlike Shenkuu, which just simply appeared after the Cyodrake's Gaze 'sort-of-plot'). Perhaps add some more features to it, like a new quest mode, cooking pot or even training academy.. But again, I rarely visit the places through the world map, so it doesnt really matter to me :P

lots of good ideas here. and hijacked threads are fun. :D

Kreludor will eventually get its expansion through the Return of Dr. Sloth. when that will be...is to be determined. And yes, kiko lake needs something more to it, as it's past its "mini world" phase i believe (being noted by the altador Cup and all).

the grundos gym and neoschools wouldn't need to worry about deflating codestones and dubloons much, as long as they give a limit to each stat to be raised, and make it as expensive to go as it is to the other training schools.

having clubs as shown in Altador Plot wouldn't be a bad idea at all, and i'm sure Neopets knows it. it would work as another extension such as the employment agency, fishing and Illusen/Jhudora quests.

as always, content will be added slowly and in due time, as dumping everything in at once wouldn't make the flavor of the site last.

There was talk a while ago about a dark world, or a thief world at least. I think that would be really cool to have.

That idea may come into fruition with the Theives Guild, which is currently run by Kanrik. Perhaps it would involve you entering the real Neopian shops of Neopets to get and item, after which you would receive a reward for your efforts (no the item, as that is what you are being commisioned to steal). it would alter your buying experience of course, as no shop owner would sell to a thief. ;)
