So how much do restockers really make?

Thu Feb 08, 2007 8:27 pm

I'm just curious. I think it's a very common assumption among people who don't restock that restockers are raking in the NP. Recently I've been wondering if that's really true, based on some comments I've seen by restockers around various fan forums. Clearly, the really elite restockers earn a huge income, but I'm curious about how many neopoints the average restocker-on-the-street might make on a day spent restocking, and how long it takes to make it. I'm often jealous of restockers with large incomes, but when I think about it, I bet they spend a lot more time per day than I'm willing to spend playing Neopets.

This information has no real practical knowledge for me, since sitting around refreshing waiting for a shop to stock would drive me batty. Like I said, I'm mostly curious to get a better idea about the various ways people make their NP. (I suppose people interested in getting into restocking might find it useful.)

Depends on the time of year really, probably 20-25k now. Runs around 40-50k in the summer and almost 100k during the christmas break. I have a size 66 shop (330 spaces).

I can make about 20k to 25k profit on restocking an hour. Sometimes it's less, sometimes more. It all depends on my luck.

I think 25k is about the average for normal restockers. There are probably only a handfull of people that really make millions restocking. :)

It depends. The amount's fallen a lot ever since TNT got rid of the refreshing on the :00, so not too many people rake in the millions. But it's still a fair amount.

So I haven't restocked in a while, but when I did I made 50k+ an hour on average. I made even more way back, but that's before they added the delay for buying items in the store. Can't really stand restocking anymore... it's too boring. :P Games are the way to go...

I pull in between 50k and 200k per day, depending on how much I actually try.

Now that Mysterious Valentines Cards are back in the shops, I could conceivably make 1-2 mil per day.

I only make about 50k a month now that I don't rs everyday,Only on half price day.

That's about what I do, depending on how much time I spend at it. And most of that is from relatively small profit items, between 1k-10k profit from each.

I guess if I a) had the time; b) knew what was actually profitable (that's really important); c) had faster reflexes when I do click on something - that haggle page and I don't get along; and d) didn't just try to rs on half price day to mainly get stuff for my neohome, gallery and books for my jetsam to read I could make more than I do playing games.

In the two days I've tried under the new system again, it's been 100k. But, that's from restocking a 100k item both days. Under the old one it'd be anywhere from 50-100k, but that was after a solid 2 or 3 hours restocking for 2.5-10k profit on each item.

Most of my profit comes from 500-1100 np items. Its easier that way for me, when something sells I can easily go out and replace it.

FWIW, a goodly portion of my cash now comes from the stock market.

Unless you have really fast reflexes (I don't), low profit items are the way to go. I like things that sell quickly and consistently, the best items are often commons that restock in multiples so they're easier to nab.

The trick really is knowing the items.

On average I can do 100-200k a day if I'm concentrating. Some days are just dry, missing every rs by a mere second or two. Other days the items can just fall into your lap if you've got enough practice and training under your belt. Those days when you accidentally happen upon something like a pea chia pop make up for it all, lol.

But honestly, I'm a poor rs'er. Somehow I manage to get mostly HTS stuff and end up chucking it in my SDB after weeks of listing a low price on the TP. If I sold those things for 99k I'd lose out on a heck of a lot of profit, but then I'm not making anything with them sitting gathering dust either. Sometimes I think it's easier to make more np not going for the UB's so you can sell in your shop right away.

It's not hard to learn the good items, it just takes time and you can't ask someone for a list - the items would be gone by the time you checked, lol. Usually it's just good to go for higher priced stuff and know your gains will offset your losses there in the longrun.

I am definately not a good regular restocker, but some of my income is from my shop. I probably only spend a few trips to each shop on my list when I do my dailies. If there's a high margin item, I'll jump on it but won't sit and refresh until something great comes along. Whatever I get will go into my shop. When the shop gets full, I'll go through and price it all at one time. I would guess that I typically make about 30k - 50k, but it is definately not very often. Of course, this philosophy changes on half-price day...

MahMu said it: the trick is knowing the items. Some will definately cause you to lose NP. Best example is the slippery floor potion in Kauvara's shop.
