Editorial - Future pet training possibilities

Tue Feb 13, 2007 10:41 pm

I was chatting with a friend recently and mentioned that I didn't enjoy having to buy three or so codestones every time I wanted to train my battle Neopet, Wish a statistic point. So my friend suggested that I should train with dubloons, because they're cheaper. However, Neopets with levels over 40 aren't allowed to train at the academy. What about on Neopets' special days? Lenny Day is coming up and I'd really like to know. Luv ya TNT. ~forever_future
Alas, yes, Cap'n Threelegs' Swashbuckling Academy is cheaper, but is meant to train only lower level Neopets. Since he's the one that offers free training, Neopets over level 40 don't get free training on their special day. *sniffle*

Don't tell anyone we told you, but we're currently discussing some possible features for higher level Neopets. *shifty eyes* It will be quite some time before we speak of this again, though, so don't ask. :P

It might be some time, but that wouldn't mean we can't speculate about it :P

Has anybody ever filed in an idea about other possibilities for pet training? Maybe they one was worthwhile, and decided to work on it.

My first guess would be that they're starting a new training school, possibly on a new world or perhaps on Shenkuu, some martial arts kind of school.. (especially with a new colour to go with it too, I'm still hoping for a Ninja colour, since they have them Pirate colours as well... A guy can hope :P) I don't see them offering other things that can train your pet without money or effort.. But I also don't know what that would do to the Training School and to the price of codestones.. (were school and academy introduced at the same time?)

The Academy was introduced a long time after the Training School. I remember that codestones took a small dip in price, but it didn't last terribly long.

I'd like to see something like how Grundo's Gym originally was. Occasionally you'd get a stat point for playing. Interestingly, the page for the game says that it's offline for maintenance. Of course, it might've said that for the past few years and I've never seen it, so take that with a grain of salt.

I think I might remember something about a ninja training school being on the coming soon page a while back, but it's not there now. Ryshu's pretty martial artsy, though.

Uhhhh... Mystery Island has one, complete with ninja, you should check it out! :P

I don't see any training schools for higher level pets popping up any time soon, because there are so few of them compared to the rest of the pets in Neopia. Though I guess the stronger pets are probably owned by serious players who pay for premium, and everything's about money soooooo....

Edit: beaten :(

I don't know very much about it (because none of my pets have ever been higher than level 45) but isn't there a training school for pets that have completed training at the Mystery Island school? The one that uses red codestones? That's got to be ridiculous in price! Is TNT talking about that training school (like possibly updating it), or do you think they're planning a whole new one entirely?

Tue Feb 13, 2007 11:11 pm

Yeah, that's the Ninja school which already exists for some time as well, you can train there once you're done in the normal Training school, but there is a huge difference between level 40 and level 250 (the requirement for the Ninja school)! I'm at about 100 already, and 4 codestones per stat is really taking a chunk out of my money..

Perhaps they might be thinking of lowering the level of the Ninja school.. But that would take away the status and mysteriousness of it.. I guess it would be another training method, there are too few other possibilities for stat increases anyways.

It could be something as simple as letting ALL pets train for free when your day rolls around.

speaking of...
i've always wanted to see the secret ninja training school.
does anyone here have a pet that's a high enough level to train there?
and if so, could someone post a screenie or something? :battar:

That's exactly what I was thinking, neobeth. Out of the four pets on my main, only the lab pet qualifies for free training; and she can only train level. I'd be lucky if I were able to train more than one free stat point anyway.

I still stand by my statement that the Battledome should be able to train your skills, as well.

EG; if you win a battle using pound, it calculates a % to add towards your next level.

I'm 13.0005 Strength
I win a battle using the ability 'pound'
Monster Difficult divided Strength * 2
I'm 13.020 strength.

I think it will be for higher level pets,we already have 3 training schools for lower level pets and only 1 for higher levels.

I hope it's the battledome thing, in all honesty.
It's done that way in Neoquest!

I would like to see them come up with a free training token, good for 1 course at the school of your choice. These would be random events so everybody would benefit. You dont train , no problem sell to somebody who does. They could put these in rotation instead of those almost worthless petpet lab pieces.

Thats a great idea neobeth. You should submit that to TNT.

I know; I've emailed it in to Neopets several times, but never got a reply.

Think of it as playing a game of 'Pokemon Yellow' ;)
