The Super Weapons

Mon Feb 19, 2007 9:37 pm

Where do all of these super rare weapons come from?

Some are from games, and some are from quests, but where do the rest of them come from?

Do some people just get lucky and get a random event that gives them one of these ultra-items?

Also what do the rxx values mean specifically?
Obviously the higher the value the harder they are to get, but how does one come across an r99 or higher? Where do the r85 or the lower items come from?

Weapons like thyoras tear, or leaded elemental vial, or mask of coltzan etc.?

Thyoras Tear restocks in the Defense Magic shop, and LEV restocks in Brightvale Potionery (I think). Mask of Coltzan, though hardly a SUPER weapon (but I still would like to have it), can be bought directly from the Hidden Tower:

That's where most rare items come from. Also, some come from the Smuggler's Cove, but those are extremely rare and expensive. Finally, a few are TCG prizes, plot prizes, or Neoquest II prizes (notable examples are Ring of the Lost, Wand of Reality, Fruit Bomb, and Skarls Sword). H4000 Helmet, now retired, came from the Space Treasure Map (and may still; nobody has the NP to try it).

All items that are R99 or lower stock in the shops. As expected, they stock less frequently as the rarity gets higher. R100 items come from weird places like the Golden Dubloon, and R101 items are "special" items that are game prizes. After that, rarity means almost nothing.

Alright, I've already been to idb and thoroughly perused it. Thanks for the item on where stuff comes from though. So basically stuff just randomly restocks in the shops and you have to be lucky enough to find them when they do. It'd be cool if idb put in the origins for a lot of the weapons they have up there. Perhaps even including their approximate price in the shop for purposes of comparing to the wizard/trading post price.

I imagine a lot of stuff is a lot cheaper when it restocks than if you try to buy it on the market huh? Excepting the hidden tower of course. Is that how a lot of high-rollers make their big money? By just buying up the super-rare items in shops and reselling them for 5-10x as much in their shops?

Actually, they changed the system a bit.

Rarity 100s are the most rare stocking items. They appear in shops, but so rarely that only one or two of them are ever in circulation at a time.

Rarity 99s stock, but also rarely enough to make them incredibly expensive and hard to obtain.

Most of the ultra-powerful weapons were prizes from old plots (especially wars where weapons are often prizes) and some are also items bought in the hidden tower for a hefty fee. Most of the really good weapons that were available there (Faerie Slingshot components, Ghostkersword etc) have been retired, and will never stock again. Because of this, not many are in circulation anymore

Try 25-50x as much, in some cases. It's called restocking, and you can make MILLIONS doing it.

Restocking battledome weapons like TT and LEV is VERY DIFFICULT!!

You can make millions, but the chance that you'll click on the rare weapon and get past the haggling page is very slim. I have trouble even getting rare stuff from chocolate and spooky foods, not to mention a TT or LEV.

Your best bet for a good weapon is to look through IDB and see what matches your price range. The next best thing is to play NQII and get to the hardest difficulty if you don't have the NP -

Shops stock items that have rarity numbers like 50, 85, and 100. r85 will appear less frequently than r50 during each restock and stock in fewer quantities (I think most rarities above 88 will stock 2 or even just 1 at a time). r100 appear extremely rarely and will stock only 1.

I doubt many people get random events that give ultra-items, although there are some people who try for random items off completing the maps from the retired treasure hunt game (you look around the website for clues, and after like 15 clues you get a random piece of space, treasure, laboratory, or spooky map).

If you read only one thing from this post, read this -->
Always do the special events or plots to the best of your abilities - it increases your chances that you'll get a plot-specific battledome weapon, although I heard the rewards from the Altador Cup for battledome weapons weren't that great.
