Forgive me if this has been around for ages... knowing me, I'm sure it has
I'm finding it... really strange looking! It's not in the same graphics style as the rest of the site at all. When I first saw it, I thought maybe I'd accientally gone to cookie-grabber/dupe page.
That, the
new create-a-user and new create-a-pet pages (
screenshot nabbed from Stampsyne, from the
pet creation topic) look... rather chunky and unfinished! The black headings and the default HTML buttons particularly. I hope they're going to "restyle" them, rather than this being a new direction for Neopets. Especially since these are the first pages to be shown to new users...
</idle speculation>

That is most definatly new... It looks spiffy
Sun Mar 04, 2007 12:25 am
Ew... =( I really dislike all this new stuff. it doesn't fit the rest of the site at all... especially the grey background to the tables.

Yeah, I'm really not liking these new changes at all. :/
But I guess I'll have to get used to it, since TNT is hell bent on fixing things that aren't broken, and ignoring things that are broken.

Maybe they plan on doing a whole revamp to the site eventually and it'll all fit, but I don't like the way it looks.
Sun Mar 04, 2007 12:45 am
I really, really don't like it.
I also HATE the new sign-in-each-place-you-go thing... it was really never a problem today until I tried to get a Tarla alert and found I had to re-log-in after being on the site at work.
Are TNT trying to bring the site to a new Internet 2.0 look? The shading, the chunky-yet-smooth...
If they DO make a change, it would look better if they did it all at once, rather than bit by bit. It makes things like this stand out badly.

What exactly are they trying to do? Make it look more mainstream and technology-ish? I think its fine the way it is, and there new 'improvements' are just making it look pretty bad...

To me, as a web programmer/developer, it seems like somebody said to some developers "here! make a new sign in message!" and they've done it, and... that's it. It looks like a prototype that hasn't been looked at yet by the graphics team :-S
From a graphic design point of view, for example, the "Oops" is rather out of alignment... and for the new "create a user" pages, the image on the first page is all blurry and "denotes required fields" on the second page is out of alignment too. I have to admit, though, that I am a bit of a design nazi!

They *did* ask for comments -
http://www.pinkpt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=32119 - and posted the same thing on the neoboards. Apparently, nobody or not enough people brought it up.
Sun Mar 04, 2007 7:01 am
Yeah, I noticed those topics. IMHO, I'm not sure that they made it clear enough what they were wanting... they didn't say that they were staff members for starters. Which is unfortunate, because PPT-ers tend to have a lot of opinions about these things, and would love to give feedback to TNT!
Mon Mar 05, 2007 3:27 am
Yeah I was thinking that too. If this beta tester person would have given more of an explanation of the new feature and what kind of feed back they wanted, and made it clear they were TNT staff, (and made an effort to make themselves sound credible) then they would have gotten a better response than basically saying "here. comment on this. *no explanation*" >.>
We PPTers are highly opinionated, if TNT really wants our opinion on things, they need not look far.
Mon Mar 05, 2007 3:50 am
Well, my guess is that they know about these topics.
And for that reason, I'll add my two cents: totally doesn't fit in with the rest of the site...style is totally different, and I don't like it.
There! lol.

I actually reported that thread to a mod because I thought it was linking to a scam or cookie grabber or...
something unofficial.
I mean, the user gave no indication that they were a member of TNT, or even a betatester (sans an e-mail address that they could have pulled from anywhere), and their grammar and lack of details did little to tell me otherwise.
As for my thoughts on the matter: I like them on their own, but I agree with pretty much everyone else; the new stuff merely
clashes with the rest of the site.

That's what I was thinking. =( I hoped I'd get my shields past 6 years before they decided to re design everything else.
