The new neopets movie will be called the lost tomb and it will come out in 2009, apparantly. I really really hope not. There for a while it seemed there was no news of a movie and it seemed it was scrapped, but now it is back again.

Or did I read this the wrong way?

*Chooses to belie this is merely IMDB's wishfull thinking, who had the release date of Transformers for 2005... until 2005. then it was actually announced!*

I agree, they lost so much potential in not reintroducing Sloth as the main point in the movie title. I'm seeing cruddy childrens adventure Direct-to-DVD ripoff on this if indeed this is the correct title

I'd like to find out about the origin of Dr. Sloth too. In my opinion he isn't the last of his kind, but he is actually one of the better of his kind. He trys so hard to be serious, but on his on world no one took him serious and maybe he was a bumbling fool there as well. He might be trying to take over Neopia, as it should be easy to do. So he has something to prove to the others that he can do it. But he has never done it, and maybe in the end he will decide not to do it at all.
It would be interesting if another Sloth appeared, more handsome and quite easily could take over Neopia. Dr. Sloth would be prompted by jealousy and perhaps he'd have to save Neopia from his own kind. After all, this is his world to take over, so he'd be saying that he only saved Neopia so the others couldn't get it, and he could get it. But it wouldn't work that way. He'd suddenly be a hero, and perhaps he'd find he liked being that better than being a villian anyway.
But this movie will probably be all predictable.
Jake the Kougra will be slinking into the tombs like indiana jones, and it will be very much a parody of that.
Then he will probably end up opening something better left closed, and we will see a new villain. Then all the cuteness will leave and all the villains will come out of the woodwork. Then some pound pet will get adopted and save the day with the help of a faerie that appears out of no where at the last possible second. Either that or some high level pet we never heard of will appear in all its high level glory with all its high level weapons and junk and basically one hit the villian.

Hey! Stop ruining the surprise of the plot line for everyone!

Oh my gawd, it's actually going to be made?!
This is bad. This is badbadbadbadbad. This is the sort of thing that should never see the light of day.
On the other hand, IMDB is not the most reliable of sources, at least in my experience.

You seem to be forgetting the first film to pull that stunt.
The land before time.
12 Films and a TV series. (That last one is news to me)

I thought the same thing when I saw a billboard for it.
I could also swear that I saw a commercial for a new "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie. I had no idea that they were still around.

*thinks wishfully*
It being called the Lost Tomb doesn't necessarily mean there's no Sloth. He was the driving force behind the first Lost Desert Plot with Brucey B., and there was a lot of stuff involving tombs in that one. Okay, I'm reaching because I just want to see him back.
I'm going to be optimistic, though. I think there's a decent chance that it'll be entertaining.

I'm just worried that if Sloth is in it, they'll get some horrible Tim Curry-esque voice actor to ruin him once and for all.

*sigh* This can only mean bad things for neopets, in my opinion. It will just make it even more little kid oriented (if that's possible 0_o). Look forward to a huge influx of hyperactive crazed n---s with short attention spans, bad spelling and grammar.
The only good thing I can see it... more commercialization of neopets could mean more real life plushies for me to collect.
I have no desire to actually see the movie. >.>
