Has Neo Gone Crazy?

Mon Mar 12, 2007 7:09 pm

OK, for the longest time, I had a font with lyrics to Family Force 5's Love Addict (you should well know why). Nothing crude or anything, it just says "hold up, wait a minute" on top, and "put a little love in it!" on the bottom. Well, tired of my old font, I went to switch back to the one I just described, and when I hit enter, I get this:

ERROR : Please do not use profanity or other inappropriate words your NeoHTML or NeoSig. This is a childrens site and swearing is bad.

Oh, there's gonna be some swearing if Neo's getting this bad with filters...

Lol. I wonder what's causing it to act up? I've heard the song before and I don't see how Family Force 5 would really warrant being censored? Sometimes those filters are a PITA. I hope that you can get it resolved or it was just a glitch.

Wait. Neo was sane at one point?

Anyway, I've scrutinized your lyrics and tried to see something dirty in them. Couldn't find anything, sorry. Maybe the "put a little love in it" sounds suggestive to them?

XD
You have a point, Fidds. They were never sane.

But what's strange is that I had the font for like two months at one time, and when I had come back, I wasn't iced. o_o;;

I tried putting those lyrics in my petpage just now. It usually tells you what word is blocked, even if it wont tell you after you submit something on a lookup or font. The lyrics didnt get filtered at all on my petpage though. They went through without a problem, which seems strange. Maybe it has something to do with the rest of your font, or its glitchy or something.

It's probably glitchy, because it let me have another font no problem.
PLUS I've been using the layout for my font almost two years now.

Maybe they just don't like the song?

It occurred to me that the word 'love' might be the problem. But that would indeed be sad. If it is that short of a phrase, just omit one noun at a time and see if that solves the problem? Perhaps you could even space out the word to L O V E or something and bypass the silly filters? <3

EDIT: Responded too fast. Reread your comment that it accepted a different font. That was the first problem I suspected but that is also a bit silly. If you want to use your old font (because I am a font-lover too), you could play around with the letters or other characters. Mmm, font fun! ;)

Its probably the fontname causing the problems (which you've probably worked out by now :P). I actually just wanted to point out that anjuna's suggestion to bypass filters with spaces isn't such a good idea. Even though there's nothing dodgy involved, its still risking being punished for nothing.

Okay, my idea might not be a good one, if one's intentions are ... not in the best taste. :P But .. in the name of .. love ... !! Awwwwwwww.

Neo is funny like that. I had the word "teddy bear" in my gallery description for years. Then one day, I went to change my description--a very minor one in which I changed a number--and all of a sudden got the profanity filters. Teddy is no longer allowed. Go figure. Neo has gone crazy.

EDIT: Apparently the word "love" passes the filters. I have a McCartney/Lennon quote in my shop and never had a problem with it: "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make."

Sometimes it's odd words. I was writing to my friend, in french, and it kept telling me I was using profanity until I realised it was the word ''bras'' as in ''arm'' in french lol
I can understand it being banned so that no old pervert could say ''take off your bras'' (by the way who puts on more than one lol) but it's just sad that the censoring program can't make any difference regarding languages... it just pick anything that means something in english and cuts it.

Now I can't immagine what someone writting in Croatian, for example, might endure... o_O

An idea: Why not just override your own font tags? Place the font tags in, then place other font tags around them.
