Has the "Cape of the Sun" gender change trick stopped working for anyone else? I had been using it to change my lab pet back to female every time the lab ray changed her to male.
The only info I can find on the cape of the sun trick to work is that the pet must be at least "bright" (11?). My pet's intelligence is currently at 32. A while back, my pet was zapped back to level 1, so I wondered if that was the problem. (s)He has been at the academy several times along with the lab ray occasionally raising levels. My pet is back up to level 12, but the cape still won't change him back to a her.
Any suggestions?

Since this is a question involving a Battledome item, I have moved the thread to the
Battledome board.

This reminded me that I needed to change my Peophin's gender back to female. I'm still trying. Hopefully this is a glitch.
My Peophin has high hp, low level, okay strength & movement, and meets the requirements for intelligence. I'm going to keep trying on the off-chance that the Cape's suddenly become random, so I'll keep you posted.

It's not working on my pet either. Also, I noticed that it's defending against water and not the air listed in IDB.

I asked dirtside.
That [gender changing] was a bug. We know people like it, but it's been fixed. The defence thing was a little buggy, too (it defends differently depending on certain characteristics) but as of now (as far as I know), it works the way it's supposed to.
The "defends differently" thing is interesting (I asked and he clarified that he meant it NOW defends differently and was always supposed to, but a bug in the code kept it from working). We'll re-test the weapon at IDB and get the correct information up soon.

Cranberry, Thanks!
Disappointing news I guess, but at least we now know.
Should we hold out hope that under certain conditions it might change gender from male to female?

No. It was a bug that's been removed.

Oooh, that reeeks. I found that cape
very handy for my female lab rats. I guess I'll just have to adopt pets with gender-neutral names from now on.
