TNT are serious!

Mon Apr 23, 2007 2:03 am

The Neopet Customisation Beta! board has been dissintegrating into a spammers delight.

Mass hysteria about a nmail that could delete your pets, a ghost, a gnome and a grundo overtook the boards.

Well, TNT have just started purging the board, they locked one topic:

Perpetuating false rumours and trying to incite mass hysteria is NOT tolerated. Anyone found spreading such silly rumours, even in jest, will be frozen.

We agree, which is why we're deleting the posts and freezing the users who keep perpetuating the FALSE rumours. They obviously have too much time on their hands. Now stop posting about it and get back to the topic, please.

Try again. You're welcome to create an I HATE BETA board without taunting the monitors at the same time, kthx.

Please STOP perpetuating the rumours that this is a plot or a prank. It is merely extraneous data stuck in the pound database. Please stick to the topic of this board.

and have been deleting other topics.

TNT is serious business.

Ugh. The neoboards. There is no logic there.

I mean seriously. How the heck does one look at the Grundo and go 'OMG plotz!1!!' Like..it's a weird glitch that doesn't effect us in any way and people are going nuts and repeating the same information over and over. IMHO, TNT could purge some of the idiots more often.

I are serious poster. This are serious thread. :P

But all kidding aside...I don't blame the monitors for their response. I mean, TNT makes a pretty fun, decent program, lets us test it out, creates a board for the specific purpose of getting feedback, and then...it gets crapped on by spammers and people who spread malicious rumors about the program. I personally would have trouble restraining my words, were that me.

I wanted to sit down and type a decent, thought-out review of Beta for them once I got a chance to do so. I hope that chance doesn't get ripped from me because some idiots ruined it for everyone.

Yes, I agree. I don't blame TNT one little bit. I just wish they had been around sooner. The board was a mess.

I have been trying hard to have a serious discussion with other users, but most of them seem to be little kids, that go like:

"Omg?!?!?Wat dis baord 4!!11 i dont understanz anyfing" then don't bother to read your explanation.

Then of course all the other boards about grundos and such like was beyond a joke.

Now that TNT have cleaned it up, it is a little easier to chat about the customisation.

You obviously weren't here for the petpet disappearance "plot."

TNT made it worse by throwing in this little guy:

Yeah, but that was an intentional plot. This is just a random glitch that people are trying to claim is the start of something big

That was also a random glitch, but TNT turned it into an event when people started thinking it was a plot. They were only covering up for it, making it look like it was intentional.

Didn't the petpets disappear to go to Jellyworld? Or am I thinking of something else?

I wasn't here for it, but from what I've heard, they were there. They were the ones who ate the Giant Jelly

I really don't think it was a glitch. I was on Neo at the time, though I have a very hazy memory of that particular time, but I did some digging and found this in our very own PPT Neodex:

Millions of Petpets attached to a Neopets ran away on the 12th June 2003. Despite some suspicions relating to a war after the sighting of a mysterious Grundo carrying a wriggling sack to the Virtupets Space Station, they were, in fact, gorging themselves on the Green Jelly in Jelly World and shortly returned on the 24th June 2003.

And found this:

I agree that the petpet disappearance wasn't a glitch--they had a "disappeared" image right from the beginning, and the petpets didn't "unattach." The whole thing seemed to me to be the start of a plot that they didn't know how to continue(or didn't have time to continue), so they dropped the idea and gave everyone the Green Jelly ending to introduce people to Jelly World.

Yeah, actually I was around for that and it seems pretty different. This time there was (is?) a pet in the pound with no name for a ridiculously high price that can't be adopted anyway. Obvious glitch, not even a hint of plot.

The petpet ordeal was TNT being silly and scaring everyone just a bit. And the way I see it, TNT threw in the grundo just to let people know that it wasn't a glitch and we were going to get our petpets back. I don't really don't even see how the two situations are similar.

Back to the main thrust of the topic: TNT is serious? Good. Frankly, there's too much garbage (still) on the neoboards. I'm not a big fan of even having them anymore, although I have to admit I may be supporting my own view since I haven't liked them for a very long time.

People start dumb rumors, and for that they should be punished. I don't know about a freezing, but a suspension should always be an option for nonsense like this.
